Watching TV while speeding nets $295 fine

A Michigan man was charged after an off-duty police officer noticed a driver watching a television mounted on the passenger visor of an SUV.

I think there are too many distractions drivers have and put in vehicles now; aren't they supposed to keep their eyes on the road at ALL times? Isn't it just common sense? 8O

I don't know what got into car manufacturers who put TVs in the front seat of a vehicle. How stupid. I think it is just as bad when the TV is right behind the drivers head. In that case the only way someone should be able to watch it is with headphones on. I rode to a tournament once with a family that had a conversion van with a VCR and TV built into the back seat area. The TV was right behind the driver and front passenger seat and it was a bit irritating to me to try to talk to my friend who was driving while also having to listen to the TV. The kids kept the sound down but with it right there, well .... Anyway, I think someone in the technology department of these big car manufacturers has lost there common sense.

I agree with you, tkdlady! Common complaints that drivers don't keep their mind on the driving and then put all these distractions in the vehicle...it's just plain dumb and dangerous if you ask me...
