Default VERY Serious New Kid's Game

Boy dies playing 'passing out game,' officials believe

BOISE, Idaho (AP) -- A 10-year-old boy was found dead, hanging from a tree, apparently killed while trying to get high by playing the "pass-out game," authorities said.

Dalton Eby may be the second Idaho child killed in recent months while playing a choking game, trying to cut off the oxygen supply to the brain to achieve a type of "high."

Dalton's mother reported him missing last Thursday when he failed to return home after visiting a friend. Search and rescue crews found his body Friday in a tree near his Island Park home, the Fremont County sheriff's office said in a statement.

There was nothing at the scene suggesting that anyone else was involved, the sheriff's office said.

"During the course of the investigation it was learned that there is a game that is common knowledge to many of our youth. A game known as the 'pass-out game,' the 'fainting game,' the 'tingling game,' or the 'something dreaming game' -- to name a few," the statement added.

Probably worth having a discussion about with any kids we know who may run into other kids who don't understand they could DIE while playing it.

I'll just be happy if my daughter reaches adulthood in one piece and with her brain still in tact.

I used to do that before I got saved, assuming it's the same thing.
It's a stupid thing to do, even if you live in idaho.

Only done it once; I must have been 10 years old and not enjoying myself at school. Weekend was approaching, but I can't remember much details other than that it was during the usual school performances - mostly just for fun.

Sorry I didn't clean up the article before I posted it. :?

I DID talk to Sn00py about it and he said no one was doing that as far as he knew. He thought it was pretty stupid to play around with something like that. He's quite the hypochondriac though and is less likely to do something he actually thinks may kill him. Sometimes it's an annoying trait....but I seriously doubt he will ever smoke or do drugs because of it. My Dad is the very same way.

Ya except you could kill a kid by doing that too.

I've done it, we played a game where you put your hands around your friends throat to cut off the air so they get light headed, while someone stood behind them holding them up if they fell back. Kids do stupid things, I've only tried it once and never gave it a thought about how dangerous it could be, just did it for the experience/cause friends were doing it.

that would be peer preasure.

this is why it's so important for parents to talk to their kids about everything! Since merika pinned this up, i talked to kassandra about it and it will be a talk i have with erika too along with strangers, drugs and sex.

I've never done anything like this and i can't say that I knew anyone who did this either as a kid but i'm sure some did. Maybe it's more a boy thing to do then a girl?

it's really scary to think that your child can die because of a stupid "game" they're playing. It's things like this that make me a mother hen.

This is where the internet is such a good thing. I think articles like this which end up in forums....let parent's know what subject they need to discuss with their children/teens.

I'm really surprised a few of you have tried it when you were young kids. I had never even heard of it before....except in a sexual content. I appreciate you sharing about it.
