Default Vermont Democrats call for Bush impeachment

Democratic Party leaders in Vermont on Saturday passed a motion asking Congress to immediately begin impeachment proceedings against
President Bush.

In an elementary school cafeteria strewn with American flags and copies of the U.S. Constitution, some 100 state party officials agreed to make the request to the U.S. House of Representatives.

"You know in your own hearts and minds that something is terribly wrong in this country," said Margaret Lucenti, a Democrat from Vermont's capital Montpelier.

The measure asks the Republican-controlled House to pass articles of impeachment against Bush for misleading the nation on
Iraq's weapons of mass destruction and engaging in illegal wiretapping, among other charges.

If either were true....he would have already BEEN impeached! Granted, not everyone in the GOP is happy with everything he's done....but the two things listed in this article are silly and irrelevant. We are getting close to elections....anything you read now is probably a lie regarding ANY candidate. That's what we do to keep ourselves amused. It's too bad other countries read all that dribble and have no way of knowing how untrue most of it really is.

So...some people met in a cafeteria?? No one takes anything like that seriously.

Not neccessarily. A lot of Presidents, both Republican and Democratic have done things during their presidency that were far from Constitutional. Including a lot of icons of both parties, in times long gone. I think something like that happens in most "democratic" countries, though.

I remember the Republicans building a case against Clinton, which was highly amusing, when Congressman after Congressman was forced to resign a number of positions because of extramarital affairs.
Even if Clinton's behavior were unconstitutional, it should have been the same patriotic Republicans that would have questioned the policies and actions undertaken by the current President. And start preliminary impeachment procedures.
As an added bonus, a lot of people who see the whole US as a bi-party state would have a serious argument to debunk if that were to happen.

A year and a half for the next Presidential elections. If that is close, than the whole impeachment thingies should be crossed out of the US Constitution - because it is always close to elections. With elections every two year, and every 4 years for Presidency.

BTW, why are you not allowed to commit perjury, but are newspapers allowed to do the same thing?

Sadly, the same applies to US citizens and the situation in the world. Including for instance the controversy surrounding Iran - but this may well serve for the US to declare war on Iran. If that happens, this false knowledge has serious consequences, both in the Middle East as in the US itself.

I don't think the procedure will get them anywhere though. We will see what happens, but as I stated in another thread, I expect a war to break out this year with Iran.

That's a whole other topic too, here's a good video of Scott Ritter, a weapons inspector:

Personally....if Iran really does have the nuclear capabilities of 1300 miles (as they have bragged)...I don't think the USA is the one who should be worried about it. Let Europe cover their OWN problems for once and quit depending on us to do it for them...so they can call us warmongers while they sit passively on their chicken sh*t butts America Bashing. Quite frankly....a whole lot of Americans are tired of it.

We've got submarines with the nuclear capacity of 6000 miles - pin point acccuracy. We can take care of Iran in a day if the UN and all the peace-nicks would get out of the friggin way and leave us alone. They won't though....but they sure will be whining like puppies when France get flattened from Iran. If it wasn't for protecting Israel....we wouldn't care.

If it wasn't for Twinks...I wouldn't care either.

With the possession of 200 nukes of its own, Israel can defend itself quite well. The whole treaty thingy Iran gets bashed for is not signed by the US, Israel, or Iran. So that makes perfectly no sense, as both the US and Israel have a few nukes of their own.

Where are the international inspectors in the US and Israel, if non-signatories of the treaty apparently must be evil for not complying with a treaty they did not sign? This brilliant argument has been made by US State officials - but the same argument cannot be applied to the US - for not signing the treaty! Can someone point out the logic in that?

In fact, when signing that treaty Iran should be granted the right to develop nuclear energy, as per the terms of the treaty (I can't help it - those terms prevent Europe the possibility to identify rogue states such as the Netherlands and Belgium, for having developed nuclear energy). However, neither Europe, Israel, or the US is interested in allowing Iran to get what it would be entitled to by international law.

Hypocrites! I wish we could send our Prime Minister to Afghanistan to let him do some peace-keeping, in the middle of a civil war.

If you think it's ok and feel safe with Iran having nuclear abilities....fine with me. I happen to think they all have their towels wrapped too tight....but you guys can trust them if you want to. It won't be us they will be bombing.

Do you REMEMBER when Iran held so many USA hostages for over a year? That's when we had to buddy up with Iraq to try to get them out. So...the internet shows pics of USA officials with Saddam to prove their retarded a$$ed conspiracy theories....without even doing their historical homework. Truth is...the day a REPUBLICAN named Ronald Reagan was sworn into office....they let those hostages go! They knew good and well he wasn't going to play around with them like Jimmy Carter did.

I hope Iran DOES p*ss Israel off....considering they are one of the few nations out there who has still managed to keep their balls instead of letting themselves be nuetered in the process of stupid political correctness.
