Default Texas attorney arrested: allegedly kidnapped client...

to collect fees.

WACO, Texas - A lawyer faces a felony charge of kidnapping for allegedly abducting a client from his wedding celebration in an attempt to collect legal fees.

Paula Allen, 51, took Rolando Castelan from his Dec. 10 wedding and then drove him around in handcuffs as Castelan called friends and family from a cell phone to scrounge up the money owed to his lawyer.

Allen referred calls to her lawyer, Ron Moody, when contacted by the Associated Press.

Castelan, 31, hired Allen in April when he was arrested for possession of a stolen firearm, tampering with a government document and possession of a controlled substance. Allen vouched for his bond of $5,000, police said. Six months later he was indicted on the drug possession charge, but failed to show up in court. She tried to persuade Castelan to come to court and when he didn't, she was found responsible for the $5,000 bond.

Police say she took Castelan from his wedding reception with the help of three "associates", whom police have not yet identified.

When Castelan's ex-wife agreed to meet and pay the money, Castelan managed to escape the Suburban he had been held in for four hours. He turned himself in to authorities nine days later and remains in the McLennan County Jail for his indictment.

Allen was released from the McLennan County Jail on a personal recognizance bond.

That would have been some exciting wedding to attend...also this guy has to be some kind of a charmer if he can get his ex-wife to pay the money.

It's pronounced WAAco...with a long A. Not like Wacko.

In Dutch the pronounciation is the same for Waco and Wacko.

As understandable as the frustration is, I simply would have made an announcement (for everyone to hear) at the wedding: "Will the cheap-skate groom come up and pay my Goddamn fees?"

This is why the world gets confused when they read our news. HAHA!

I agree with you V.....I think I would've done something different than handcuffing him to my steering wheel.....unless he was really good looking or something.

Hey, you could have kidnapped the bride, and took the bridal suite for yourself. And when the groom comes in, enjoy him. :evilin:

This has at least quite a bit of possibilities in BDSM. Shall we start a contest to write scripts?

There is a reason I described you as "professional princess".

Ya please, don't make me actually moderate anything. My life has been so easy here that I'm not sure I even remember how to moderate anymore.
