Network neutrality - the First Amendment of the Internet - ensures that the public can view the smallest blog just as easily as the largest corporate Web site by preventing Internet companies like AT&T from rigging the playing field for only the highest-paying sites.
But Internet providers like AT&T and Verizon are spending millions of dollars lobbying Congress to gut Net Neutrality. If Congress doesn't take action now to implement enforceable network neutrality provisions, the future of the Internet is at risk.
House Energy & Commerce Committee had a vote on preserving Net Neutrality, they voted it down 34-22.
Thereââ¬â¢s a white hot firestorm on the issue on Capitol Hill. No one wants to see the telcos make a radical change to the internet and screw this medium up, except, well, the telcos. They stand to profit from websites who can and will pay to have priority on the telcos bandwidth. With this method, the little guy like you and I, lose to big companies that can pay the big bucks.
