Rowling spreads her magic for Romanian children
'Province' article:
Multimillionaire J.K.Rowling, the author of the internationally bestselling series of books about the young wizard Harry Potter, threw her weight behind efforts to improve the condition of Romania's 80,000 abandoned children--50,000 of whom are fostered and 30,000 live in orphanages. Rowling said in Bucharest after meeting with Prime Minister Calin Tariceanu she was eager to help reinforce the success the country had had in child protection. "I believe every child has the right to a secure and loving environment," said the 39-year-old mother of three. "I am keen to help build on your success here and in a wider area." Ten signed copies of her latest book, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, were auctioned to raise funds.
