Nurses blame shortages for abuse

CALGARY -- Nurses are being physically abused and verbally threatened because of staff and bed shortages in Calgary hospitals, say the United Nurses of Alberta.

Patients who face longer wait times in emergency rooms as well as a lack of privacy and beds for treatment are taking out their frustrations on nurses more than ever, health-care workers say.

I am not surprised. Over here it is the same - including a well run national health care going down the drain. Budget cut, after budget cut, only to pay for the incompetent man-agers. What an improvement! :roll: You would almost call the local version of 911 and call for a real emergency - or drive 25 kilometres to the NEAREST available doctor in the weekends. Even for pets, that is only 6 kilometres 8O.

And of course use the excuse that the medication you need to take, has a bad effect on driving ability.
