Default Many older computers not cut out to run Vista

Q. I need to know whether it's possible to upgrade my Dell Dimension computer to use the new Windows Vista operating system. It has a Pentium III microprocessor. The memory is 384 megabytes, SDRAM. It has a 32MB Nvidia TNT2 M64 graphics card and a 20.4-gigabyte Ultra ATA hard drive. The operating system is Windows 98. With these facts, could I upgrade this PC?

if the computer was twice as powerful as that it wouldnt run vista. the OS needs almost 20GB of hard drive by itself, it needs a minimum of 1GB ram, 128mb video memory. Vista is a beast, there are not any features at this time that make it worth upgrading to.

Exactly. It is another Microsoft rip-off scheme. Which is guaranteed to make billions.

People don't need it. At least for the first three years after Vista's release.

The computer I am on right now (uncle's) is a

P3 800mhz
512mb ram
broken cd burner
tnt2 32mb vid card
running......WINDOWS XP PRO!

I hate using this computer, but I can't set up a wireless network because 1) they don't have a hub or a router 2) they don't know the username or password to unlock the internet! (if I plug my laptop in, it asks for a username and password in IE and won't let me do anything else)

So I am stuck using this comp for browsing the net, and my laptop for listening to music - as my aircard is slow as hell...
