Kid's in Trunk
3 Children Shut in Car Trunk
Md. Woman Charged With Endangerment
By Nelson Hernandez
Washington Post Staff Writer
Wednesday, June 8, 2005; Page B01
Thurmont police Sgt. Shawn Tyler said he could barely believe his eyes: Before him, at a Frederick County shopping mall, a woman was helping three young children into the trunk of her car.
Two boys -- one the woman's 9-year-old son and the other an 8-year-old friend -- hopped into the trunk of the teal Volvo 850 on their own, according to court documents charging Lanora Adele Lucas with three counts of reckless endangerment. The 3-year-old, Lucas's daughter, came last, set inside by Lucas, the officer said. With that, she drove off southward.

Is there an overabundance of "stupid smog" floating around our atmosphere these days? How can people be this dumb?

I'm wondering if she was planning on killing them but didn't succeed since she got caught. Those kids would've died from the heat in no time.
I hope she never gets her kids back and does good time in jail for this. Unbelievable!!

Perhaps she was trying to draw interest from men? Kids allegedly are a turn off for a lot of guys.

Ok I am probably going to be completely rasist and prejidust here but this gives me a hint
Nearby, a rooster and four hens paced in a small chicken coop. A plastic Whirly-Twirl swing set stood idle in her large yard facing Route 15; so did the Volvo parked in her driveway.
They are MEXICAN, I see this all the time where I live, Mexican men always ride in the trunk or on the back of pick up trucks stuffed in there like sardines. I think they can stuff like 18 people in a standard 4 door

That's just plain silly. I don't think they were trying to smuggle them across the border so the whole thing makes no sense to me whatsoever.

I still think that she was probably going to murder her children but failled because she got caught by the Police.

The kids went into the trunk by their own volition. They were not forced into the trunk, which makes a murder motive unlikely. If you are doing something like that, it is probably a habit, or a first time doing that.
She is not charged for child abuse, bur for endangerment. Which is again consistent with a non-murderous motive. Perhaps she did not have the capability to realize the dangers of doing something like that.
I still stand by my original comment.

considering that these are small children, they would probably do whatever their mother told them to do so I do disagree with the logic of them going in there by themselves not being a motive for murder.
For example, that woman who drowed all of her children in their bathtub. she didn't force them into the tub, they went in on their own and she drowned them.
Who knows what was going through that woman's mind but whatever it was, it wasn't good IMO. She's a sick woman who should never get those kids back.
No charges were pressed because you can't prove what what going through her mind. If someone hadn't of seen those kids going into the truck of the car, the headlines might of read different. Kids found dead inside mom's car.

One of the kids was a friend, Star. I highly doubt that the friend would go in the car, if it was not something he wanted to do, or if it seemed an odd request to him; he has no blind trust in this woman, as she is not his mother.

When my kids were young...they would've thought it fun to ride in the trunk...at least once. I just never offered it as an option.
