Default Hospital Sorry for Mistaken Mastectomy

Hospital sorry for mistaken mastectomy - Canada - Canoe.ca

Quote:
Johnston of Leamington, Ont., had her breast removed in November, only to find out later that her lab results had been misread.
She launched a claim for wrongful surgery, her lawyer announced Tuesday.
Her story prompted a review of mastectomies performed by a doctor and a pathologist in Windsor, Ont. Soon after, Janice Laporte came forward. In 2001, the same medical team removed one of her breasts but she didn't have cancer.

Frightening!

Good Lord, I hope she gets a huge settlement because one can never truly make up for the loss of a body part especially when there was no need for it in the first place.

All the more reason to get a second and maybe even a third opinion! OMG. Just the thought of something like that gives me chills. To just be sorry isn't enough. I hope they lose their licenses to practice.

I would think in this day and age its probably best to always get a second opinion on any type of major surgery.
