Default Dying man told, "heaven can wait," by Italian cour

http://www.cnn.com/2005/LAW/03/08/it...eut/index.html

I wonder what happens if he dies. I don't know anything about Italian law. I wonder if his family will get the settlement.

That is so rediculous. the man was given 6 months to live but the court tells him to come back in 14 months for the answer? that's retarded! He should've got his money so that he can live a little on his last 6 months of life on this earth. I feel bad for the man! those italian courts are ignorant!

I assume that he'll probably leave the won money (that he never got to hold) to his family. he better hurry and write up a will or none of them won't get any of it!

how absurd! :?

Very absurd. But if the the company is forced to pay by court, I am willing to bet that the family will be sueing for emotional damage sustained.

Because of bureaucratic idiocy, they did not even allow him to live his last few months properly, and the case is lost for them anyways. Somewhere in that company there is a PR-official who is not thinking clearly.

The sad thing is, the PR-official will at best be only fired, after the court settlement. Some consolation for the family right :x ?

The family will probably sue them for a lot of damages so this PR is going to end up costing the company a lot more money then originally.

I can't believe the court making the poor guy come back in 14 months...he'll be in heaven by that time.

at the bottom of the article:
Italian justice is notoriously slow and it takes on average 3,041 days to obtain a definitive sentence in a civil case.

This probably means his family would have to wait about 3041 days for his will to go through probate.

Sick, no wonder humanity is going down the toilet, it starts at the top and gains momentum downward.

Settlements in the US aren't so swift either. The annoying part is that there are laws in place to speed up the situation....but along with those laws come all the loop-holes and clauses. The legal system seems to be just as bad everywhere.

they're just as bad here in canada too. it took hubby 7 years to get his settlement from his car accident and took me 6 years to get mine from the death of krystal's father.

What if you had a terminally illness??

I'm disgusted too.

Look at the good side: your system works. In Ro there's so much corruption, chances are you're right and you go to jail. Law of the strongest.

I wish Ro does enter the European Union in 2007. That will arrange for some major kick in some highly important butts there  !

The courts, nor the government, cares.

I worked on a job where I handled a toxic chemical called H2S...which sucks the oxygen out of your lungs. One day after work I was rushed to the hospital with only 46% of my oxygen left. Seems simple enought to figure the two are related. I've spent a year having to prove it....even though a couple of weeks later 4 people in the same area where I worked died from it.

I used to walk 10 miles a day.....now I'm lucky if I can get to the mailbox without wheezing. That's how stupid it all can really get.
