Default Drinking Games Out in Booze Crackdown

Out go drinking games in booze crackdown - Yahoo! News

Quote:
LONDON (Reuters) – Tough new rules for pubs and clubs -- including a ban on drinking games like the infamous "dentist's chair" -- will be introduced in Britain this year in a bid to curb a heavy drinking culture that costs the country billions of a pounds a year.
Other promotions like "all you can drink for 10 pounds ($16)," speed drinking competitions and "women drink free" nights will also be prohibited.

I've never heard of the 'dentist's chair' before.

Great! Now let's prohibit them here if they aren't already!

This is exactly why i don't go "clubbing" anymore. Near enough everyone is reaching the stages of paraletic because there drinking insane amounts and its not fun anymore, its horrible now everyones got to prove there better than everyone else in this country like everyones just all of a sudden developed an ego problem.

Though, somethings got to be done because it is a very big problem now. Especially with an A&E on friday and saturday nights. A very very very long wait if you've got to go because of people drinking stupidly.

I wonder if there is any correlation between over drinking and increasingly more difficult economic times?

I wouldn't be surprised. People need to take time away from their troubles, and liquor seems to be the easiest way.
