Excuse my stupidity but how does extending daylight-saving time save money? This comment makes no sense to me in relation to thier plan: "The more daylight we have, the less electricity we use," said Markey. Ya, ok so... we are still going to get the same amount of daytime vs. nighttime every year so unless you're planning on slowing the rotation of the earth or something.... I'm lost.

in winters, night happens at around 5 or 6 pm whereas in the summers, because of daylight savings time, night happens much later like 9 or 10 pm. so, there's a good 3 to 4 hours you're not turning your lights on inside or outside your home. My guess is that this where they see saving electricity comes from.

Oh ok, well we do that every year anyway, so it must mean that they'll charge cheaper rates during those hours if they extend daylight-saving time or something. I'm beginning to understand it now, kinda. lol

oh they don't lower the price for electricity. you just save yourself on your bills because you're not using your lights as much as you would during the fall and winter months. The rates never go down, always up. LOL!
