Default Cows have regional accents / Some cows moo with a Twang!

LONDON, England (Reuters) -- Cows have regional accents, a group of British farmers claims, and phonetics experts say the idea is not as far-fetched as it sounds.

Lloyd Green, from southwest England, was one of a group of farmers who first noticed the phenomenon.

"I spend a lot of time with my Friesians and they definitely 'moo' with a Somerset drawl," he said, referring to the breed of dairy cow he owns.

"I've spoken to the other farmers in the West Country group and they have noticed a similar development in their own herds.

My gosh, it makes you wonder who would spend enough time listening to cows to even notice. I'll admit I grew up with cows and we knew which one was who based on the sound of their voice or how they moo'ed but to think cows from the north or the south moo'ed differently is kind of mind boggling. Do you think it's true in cats and dogs also...since they are more prone to grow up hearing human voices around them all the time?

I think cows tend to "moo" with a 'come hither' twang when a bull is around...and tend to bat their eyes....
