A Middleburg mother of five is accused of lashing two of her children with a cord -- one of them 84 times -- and making them and their siblings watch a videotape of the abuse.

Clay County authorities arrested Sayidanya A. McCoy, 34, on Wednesday on a charge of felony child abuse. McCoy, who frequently goes by the name Sayidanya Jantawi, was released Thursday after posting $25,000 bail.

This is actually in our particular city...which is why I heard about it on the news. I wonder what the h*ll is wrong with people? No one could be madder than I've been at my own kids....and I wouldn't dream of doing such a thing.

Do you think it's a 'stress' problem or are some people just inherently retarded?

This day and age....they've got to know the school's are keeping their eye open for this sort of thing. To make it worse...this woman worked as an assistant in a hospital.

I think these people are a few bricks short of a load myself. I've been so angry at my kids and would never do anything like that or anything near that! and she videotaped it to boot!! she has to have a few cards missing from her deck. that's insane and i hope she gets put away in prison and not a mental institution. those poor kids!!

I'm not sure the laws are all that strict on these things. She'll do a little jail time....and rehabilitation.....then they will give her the kids back. I've seen it too many times.

I also used to go to church with this wonderful family who provided foster care. They would actually CRY at some of the kids who were court ordered to go back to a parent which abused them. It was the worst thing I ever saw. That's why I could never be a foster parent.

I can't believe how stupid some people are. It's one thing to be a freak, it's quite another to make your kids suffer because of it. Do we not all know and recognize the difference between right and wrong?
