A former Vancouver high school teacher convicted of committing sex crimes against his students more than 25 years ago was given a conditional sentence Friday and will not be sent to jail.

this is disgusting! his victims get no justice whatsoever and did you see that grin on his face? the justice system in canada bites!

Can you imagine being sentenced to jail for something that happened two decades ago? Not to mention that you have to establish the truth. Problem is, that is hard to do.

Rapists often get off the hook, because they blame the victim (she was dressed like a sl*t, so I may treat her as a sl*t). Other times however the "victim" makes up the whole rape, for whatever reason, leaving an innocent man face trial. And sometimes in jail.

hat grin on his face says "I ruined your lives and got away with it" makes me want to wipe that grin off his pathetic face.

vautrin, there were women that testified, not just one. there is no limits when it comes to rape and he should've got jail time. our system in way too lenient when it comes to crimes like these, way too lenient. something needs to change.

Ummm ... I could find a picture of anyone with a grin. Does that mean that person must have committed a major crime and think of himself / herself that he or she got away with it? Doubtful.

Over here we have even a most bizarre group rape case(s) made up out of nothing. A girl was simply looking for an excuse not to go to school, so she made the whole experience up. But when that was discovered the damage had already been done to the community of the alleged perpetrators. A whole community punished for the fact that some 13 or 14-year old girl did not want to go to school.

And even multiple testimonies don't prove by itself that whatever is testified to, actually happened. Mr. Katsav, President of Israel, is hoping to prove that soon, if the authorities try to prosecute for a similar case there.
