Default Where everybody knows your name...

I was wondering if everyone here could post a little bit about themselves..? I just feel like it would be nice to learn a little bit about everyone here. I look at some names and I'm not even sure if they are male or female. lol

Anyway, just kinda wanting to get to know everyone better.

:: singing ::

"Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name,
And they’re always glad you came.
You wanna be where you can see, our troubles are all the same
You wanna be where everybody knows your name.

You wanna go where people know, people are all the same,
You wanna go where everybody knows your name."

hehehe..

I'm Luba and it's now common knowledge and I am extremely PROUD to say I am Duke's Mother! I joined here because of him and have enjoyed it immensely. As was mentioned today, I practically live here so when I'm absent it's been wondered what is wrong!

I have been married to Duke's Father for forty years, and despite some ups and downs, have loved him at first sight, and continue to love and cherish him more every day! As everyone knows, both my husband and I came from very unhappy childhoods. We were very young when we married, had both boys within three years of each other, and weren't the greatest of parents because we didn't have any role models really.

I love my Sons beyond belief, as well as my two extremely wonderful granddaughters! I am quite a positive person; took quite a while to get there as both my husband and I were raised in difficult environments. I live my life in deep gratitude and love...get up most mornings treating each day as a gift and an adventure!

This year has been a difficult one for me with one thing after another happening, but I credit my belief in God, my strength, and my positive attitude to get me through and I'm feeling much, much better!

Oh yes, I must add that I absolutely LOVE to laugh, the more, the better! Silly things make me laugh, someone with great wit makes me laugh, and even poking gentle fun at me makes me laugh! It has to be an extremely difficult day for me not to find something to laugh at! The gift of laughter has brought me through many a tough time!

Great thread

My name is Ken and I'm a bi-weekend father to the greatest 12 year old girl in the universe.

I'd love to tell you what I do for a living but its not that easy as I've worked for the same company for close to 20 years and perform various tasks in multiple departments. I do everything from operating vinyl cutters to 6 color presses as well as R&D of new inhouse products/production methods.

I like the idea of helping people who need a place to express what's important to them and my vehicle of choice is Lifesupporters.com. I also run a few other websites such as gamemoviemaking.com and 2dfilms.com (coming soon) and hope to one day own a thriving, safe and family friendly piece of the internet.

I'm pretty much an open book and have posted plenty of myself in these forums over the years but if there's anything specific you'd like to know, please don't hesitate to ask.

I'm Bill, from Brighton, East Sussex in the United Kingdom of Great Britain. Its pretty much like a San Fransisco but without the bridge, nice weather and trams but plenty of pride flags however.

I work at a multinational games publishers as an associate manager in the Quality Assurance department, mainly doing problem solving, game evaluations, testing and development strategy stuff. Prior to that I worked in web QA for 7 years in various roles. Before that I worked for the Princes Trust which is a UK charity doing out door sports like climbing, mountaineering and canoeing.

I have a girlfreind and we'll be stuck with each other for life and were going to move Lewes next year (very loverly ancient town in Sussex). She works in PR. I like playing computer games, going to the gym, climbing, Harveys (coincidentally there brewery is where I want to move too!), travelling to remote destinations, hosting BBQ's whatever the weather and computer games. I think I might have mentioned that.

I've known D00key for 4 years and we met through our common love (at that time and not wapwap) of BF1942 and the game community we used to administrate.

I'm Frank, I'm 25 and I hate my name. Can't change a thing about it though cause I'm the 6th or 7th in a row.

Let's see, I work at a trust company where I deal with stocks and bonds every day. I don't mind what I do but I want a career change. That being said, by the end of the first quarter next year I should be able to move across the country back to Toronto and start life as a currency trader (foreign exchange markets) where I will be making 6 figures a year. My fingers are crossed and I've already talked to both my immediate manager and the president of the company and it looks like it is a go.

I'm single, have been for a little while - last g/f cheated on me with my buddy while were were all on vacation. Basically my life revolves around 4 things. Work, working out, partying and sleep.

I've stopped going to the clubs just to pick up girls, and I have much more fun now, and alot more money.

There is me in a nutshell. I'll get a recent picture up from last night soon.

I guess it's time for a proper introduction of me myself as well.

My real name is Simon (But please just call me NoTargeT, target, NT, Gwenneth Gutripper, gwen or any of my online names), I'm a 38 year old man and married. I live in the north of the Netherlands. Next to being Dutch I'm also Frisian, (basicly meaning I speak frisian and live where once frisian country was).

Up untill 5 years ago I worked in several jobs, the major ones being construction worker, carpenter, cabinetmaker and road worker (eventhough I studied upto university). I used to work an average 85 hours a week to pay off the debts my girlfriend (now wife) already had when I met her, and to give her a completely new education.

By the time all debts were paid, my wife had a good job, and we were moving to a different house I got hit by a burn-out. And when I say hit I mean like a sledgehammer to the face. Before I had my burn-out I thought people suffering from it were just extremely stressed and in need of some rest. Now I've had one myself I know better then that. It had a huge impact on my physical and mental health, and, I hate to admit this, it even changed my personality. In my specific case the physical impact was the hardest to endure. I don't want to go into detail here, but it was so hefty that at first the doctors misdiagnosed my burn-out as having nerve and organ damage from poisoning. 3 years of daily vomiting, 3 month long headaches, loss of reflexes and balance, extreme high bloodpressure (2 times normal) and other stuff I won't mention followed. I quit medication and going to doctors after the first year and battled for 2 more years to get out of the ordeal on my own strength. I spent 2 more years on the brink of total relapse.

During my burn-out my wife lost 4 babies in a row during pregnancy at 8-14 weeks, and thats not counting the many times things went wrong within days after a positive pregnancy test. At the same time I was enveloped in a legal procedure against a large social security company as well. Lets just say I learned how relative things in live are real fast.

During the same times I met people like Duke, Mondo and Wapwap online, and I can not tell you how much playing games and having a laugh with them helped me get my mind off all not so good stuff in my life.

Currently I finally feel like myself again, I only do occasional freelance jobs when I feel up to it, my wife and me have been together for 11 years, my wife is 5 months pregnant (it's truely a miracle, hence my avatar) and I'm bound to become a stay at home dad. In short, things are finally going well again

Nice meeting you all

For some reason you have multiple entries for the same post and I know I should be able to do something but still need some training on being a moderator. Anyway, I know we chatted once on the chat module but it is nice to finally know the whole you. Congratulations on your soon to be dad status. I love the avatar. I hope you are feeling better as well. Looking forward to getting to know you better. By the way, what is Frisian? I have not heard of that before.

He can only see one post as the first one is moderated for some reason that I'll have to look into.
