When posting a message

please do not hit the submit button more than once. Believe it or not, even though the site appears to be hanging up, the database has already received your post. This is the reason for double-posting. There is a hack to override this which I'll try and dig up and install over the next few days to combat this.

Also, if you post and the page cannot be displayed or you get some other page error, do not hit the back or forward arrows. Instead use the refresh icon and that will not only refresh the page you were on previously, but it will likely save your post and send it to the database.

Another good habit to get into is to highlight your entire post and then Ctrl C it. Should the page you were on not refresh you will still have your post saved to your clipboard. Simply return to the topic you were posting in and hit Ctrl V in the reply box. This is the safest route for recoving long posts on any forum.

cant a person delete the post if they double post? the last post on a page can be deleted by the poster,

Yes I've allowed the poster to edit, delete, their own posts but people rarely do it. I know the mods delete a lot of the double posts and I delete a number of them myself.

The reason for the above post is that if you follow it's guidelines you will no longer double post. ;-)

We all do from time to time but did you know that you can just hit one of the titles such as Lifesupporters.com Forum Index and you'll re-direct (sometimes with less wait) and your topic wil show up as a new post in that forum?

This is only to help people be aware of what happens when a site spike lags as this one does. I'm hoping Canaca will be able to help me out to continue on this server but I believe that's not the case. For now, this is all we can do and have to live with the up and down performance we see daily. Hopefully we can remedy the situation shortly.

I'll keep everyone posted.

It only takes a second or two to delete a double post....so I don't care if people do it and don't realize.
