"Top 5 Stats" Added

If you scroll to the bottom of the main forum index page, you will notice we now have a "Top 5 Stats" box which can also be seen here.

This box tracks the Top 5 Stats of the following:

Hottest Threads
Most Viewed Threads
Latest Posts (showing last user to reply)
Top Posters
Newest Members

Please let me know if you think there is some adjustments that should be made to the block.

For the hot threads perhaps put in a parameter, that the thread may not be older than x months. 4 out of 5 are quite old (although we resurrected the game thread).

I'll have to look into this because I think it's based off page views (hits) to any particular thread. If this is indeed the case, the only way to adjust it is to either change the number in the database or disable the option all together (which is fine with me as well).

All I really want of it is to track latest topics, membership stats and top users, everything else is gravy.

BTW, you are correct sir, do you think I should do away with that portion of the stat tracking?

If it can't be checked for last post, then IMO it would be better to leave it out.

What do you think now of showing the hottest forums? The best part is that two of the forums listed are hidden to non-registered users so hopefully it helps with new membership. Of course "Inner Me" doesn't show up on the list but I can alter it so the forum shows up but none of the posts do.

Thoughts?

It is a tough call to make. Perhaps just ascertaining the "Inner me" posts show up, when you are not logged in in the 'latest posts' section would be more effective in that regard. With guests should not get posting access, unless they register as members.

Hottest forum information does not really add much information.

I just haven't been to with it today. I will look it over more thoroughly soon. I did want to see the top topics like you had before. But if what you are seeing isn't giving you true results then go ahead and remove it.

I wanted to see the latest posts which appear to be there. I forgot about it when you pointed out the New Posts feature in the forums section and the quick links. As for the main page I like to see it there too for prospective new members. It might help encourage them to join if they see what we have been discussing.

I guess I misunderstood. I thought it was on the home page thinking that is where possible new members would go first. I guess I am useless today. I will get my act together soon I hope.
