Printable Advertising
Is anyone interested in printing out and perhaps posting some pages to raise awareness of this site?
Essentially, I'll be creating some targeted news and information articles in a way that makes the main page like a flyer that can be printed, pinned and displayed anywhere.
For example: (actual image in full size can be viewed here)

Re: Printable Advertising
Please keep in mind that the image posted above is only for example purposes and shouldn't be used for anything other than discussion within this topic. If we do decide to start circulating this type of media, I'd like to create some targeted stories for use in this document as well as temporarily restructuring the main page to improve aesthetic and overall readability.
I've been criticized on more than one occasion for this site due to it's rather muddy approach toward helping people. Some people believe that this sites focus is not clear and as such, may not entice new registration.
As negative as this comment may sound, I believe it to be dead on the money. We may have a lot of content and plenty of fun in the forums but if you were a visitor coming here for the first time ask yourself, is the motives behind what we're about clear?
I'd say no personally.

I'm sorry but I take exception to the criticism that you are getting. We don't claim to be psychiatrists/psychologists; just caring, loving, sympathetic, and very warm people with varied opinions in our posts to help if we can, or just be there. I've posted an open book about my life, and ALWAYS found a response whether with a loving thought or a lighthearted approach to the problem. I wouldn't go anywhere else! This is such a caring community and within a post or two, one is accepted right away with a warm welcome!
As for the 'not clear' focus...I don't understand that as well. I think if someone joined, posted right away, the focus would become clear immediately..."you are ONE of a CARING community" and isn't that what everyone yearns for? JMHO....sorry for the rant!

Re: Printable Advertising
I see your point of view but I do believe it's a bit tainted as you've spent a lot of time here and were well versed on what this site was about even prior to joining.
Consider yourself as an anonymous internet browser who happens upon lifesupporters.com looking for something specific. To say the information is scattered is a huge understatement so it may take a guest a time commitment of 30 minutes or more to get a vague idea of what we're about.
Commonly accepted webmaster wisdom is that you have 30 seconds or 3 mouse clicks to get your point across to your guests. If you cannot do this, you risk loosing them forever.
This is perhaps one of the biggest reasons for the wiki as it will help solidify why we're here and what our intent is. I'll also be posting some targeted site explanations on the main page that will also cross link within the forums and FAQ. Hopefully, targeted informative scattering of info., may actually make it easier to stumble upon our purpose at lifesupporters.com

Re: Printable Advertising
Ya, well take it all with a grain of salt as well because if the world of webmaster understanding is 100%, I know about 1% of it. I'm still very new as compared to some of my peers and I still learn on a daily basis what works and what doesn't.
I hope one day to become a WEBMASTER but for now I'll have to be content with WEBmaster.

Just curious, but does anyone EVER become a total WEBMASTER or do you keep learning from others? Where do Webmasters go to learn how to be one?

I believe the answer is no. The moment a webmaster thinks he/she knows everything is the same moment that they start fooling themselves.
There is no one place to go to be a webmaster. All you really need to do really is get a hosting account, a domain name and create/publish a page that is viewable online. If you want to learn tips and tricks on how to drive traffic to your page/site, then you can find a sea of resources online to learn how to do it but with every good tip comes at least a dozen bad ones.

Re: Printable Advertising
I will check into where the best place is to post around here. Do I just print out the above page?

I'm going to try a test run on the page tomorrow or Wednesday so I'll let you know how it works.
