Permissions altered.

The permission change only affects the following usergroups:

1. Registered Members: members with 5 posts or less.
2. Established Members: members with 5 + posts.

Staff has not been affected by any changes.

In a nutshell, I've added an "Established Members" Usergroup for all members who have posted a minimum of 5 times within our forums. All members in this Usergroup retain full forum permissions.

The "Registered Members" Usergroup has had permissions altered in an attempt to thwart forum and/or member abuse.

Please keep in mind that this will not keep the spambots from peddling their warez in our forums nor will it help curb blatant self promotion. All this change is intended to do is add an extra layer of protection to our members while making it easier to identify nefarious users.

Should you see any changes in your permissions that you believe are incorrectly set, please post here.

when you say "full forum access" was that ment to include the admin forums?

im too tired to say which forums so i took a ss for you

This has been an ongoing issue and I'm unsure why this happens. Now and again, all I do is alter something with a usergroup or something within the Admin Control Panel and all of a sudden, forum permissions get all screwed up. This has to be a vB bug because there simply is no reason for it to occur.

For this reason, I'm making drastic changes to the Admin areas within this site so if you are staff here and notice a change in your post counts (as I have), its because I've deleted two forums that weren't being used anyway. There will also be a change to some forum permissions but it will be minor so you shouldn't notice much with the exception of the "User Intervention" Forum being gone (deleted).

actually i came across a bug in it with usergroups and usergroup titles on my forums, something simular, thought it was just me, but perhps we have stumbled on a real bug and not something i thought i may have created myself!

or we're both geniuses and created our very own bug.

lol, well I'm changing the way permissions are handled here in some of the forums from Usergroup based to Access Mask based on a user/user basis. Hopefully this will put an end to this annoying permissions bug.
