Our busiest month
Wow, I just looked at the stats and we surpassed April’s record of just over 115,000 page views for the month and we still have 5.5 days left in this month.
I can't imagine how much traffic we'll be seeing when the server is more stable and the sites perform more reliably.
Hopefully some of these guests will start registering before long and join in the fun that is our forums.
BTW, thanks to all you valuable members and guests who choose to return here and make this place a part of what I consider, an online family. You are what breathe life into this site so you should all be proud of your contributions.
Sincerely,
Ken

That's really amazing considering the server has been down 25% of the time or you have to continue to hit Refresh like a raving idiot hoping to save your post.
Good job in the STATS! That part is real good to hear.

Mashing Refresh like mad will add to the page views.
Are the stats also stored per category? I.e. how much the site has been accessed by (in all likelihood) bots and such?
115,000+ is a good number for now. If we keep going like that, we will beat the 2,000,000 page views total this year .

Yes bots are definately part of the equation since we are now an established website (nearly 2 years old), with tons of content (most of it original in nature) as well as climbing the pages for our targeted keywords on the SERPS.
You will notice though that spiders and search engines are not the majority of our traffic, much of it is direct link and/or bookmarks meaning we have a lot of member activity and we've obviously been bookmarked by a large number of lurkers (getting larger).
As we climb the SERPS (Search Engine Result Pages), look for the traffic to steadily increase. I'm not sure if we'll hit 2,000,000 this year but 1,000,000 looks like it's definately in the bag. I'm guessing we'll hit somewhere between 1,250,000 - 1,500,000 this year which makes for very exciting prospects come 07.

Re:
I think it may be your imagination because we are currently on track to hit somewhere between 175,000 and 200,000 page views.
Sadly, there isn't a lot of new content in the forums because much of the traffic is unregistered.
This is the primary reason I've considered hiding some of the forums contents because I'd like to see more members adding content rather that all visitors simply reading it :?

I'm not sure if a visitor sees LESS they are going to be more prone to join and post?

Re:
Well I just looked at the stats and we've already achieved 100,000 page views for this month alone and we're not even half way through June. I'm sure some of that traffic has to be new and/or repeat guests but our registration isn't climbing, as I'd like to see it.
I've already hidden the Politics and Religion areas so you can see the forums, you just can't read the content unless you are a registered member. I'd love to keep everything open but at the end of the day, this site needs support as well in the form of new membership and many different viewpoints on important topics. The problem as I see it is that anyone can read but there are only a few of use core members actually discussing some of these larger issues. IMHO, that is no way to have a conversation as it's almost the same as talking to yourself.
Bottom line, we need new blood to continually add their input so these topics can develop.
I may also add or alter a few staff positions to help us catalog some of this priority content because I think it will really help to round out the issues from both a scientific and a personal standpoint.
Look for an announcement on the above soon.
Ken

I feel so alone; I've checked in a lot today and no one to talk to...

I have popped in a few times this weekend too and found very few people on line. I guess I haven't been around much myself. I have been feeling a little blue and not in the mood to post I guess. I will snoop around now and see where I can add my two cents.
