New Spam and Thread Hi-Jacking Policies.
It's been brought to my attention that one of my worst fears was realized as of late. A visitor popped by and found interest in the topic titles we have within our fourms but found that we had a very tough time staying "on topic". There is no one more to blame for this than myself as I am the biggest spammer alive
I'm proposing a new "anti-spam" policy that is as follows:
Public Forum is meant for fun more than anything else. I'd like if we can keep announcements and stickies clean as spam in them tends to dilute important site information. The rest of the Public Forum should be a free for all IMO, so long as it's kept clean enough for a child to view.
All other forums should be pretty much spam and thread hi-jack free and we'll be moderating a bit more aggressively to ensure that happens.
Any thoughts on the matter?

yeah i think its a good idea, though it might take a few days for us to get the hang of not threadjacking.

It's a pretty tall order and I'm going to have trouble with it, to be honest, my heart's not really into making the change.
I think that the Public Forum should stay pretty much a free for all (cleanly) and will likely not be moderated too heavily.
The rest of the forums should try to stay on point if possible. It's allright to go off topic IMHO so long as you try and answer the original question after your joke. It'll be interesting to see because it's easier to goof around and be lighthearted rather than constantly focus on negative aspects. I guess we can try it out and see what happens, really no harm in that.

I can truly say that Duke has tried his best not to have a forum full of rules. We discussed this early on and he wanted to be as liberal with the whole issue of thread jacking/spamming as possible.
However, if new people, who may run into our site thru a Google search or for any other personal need, have a hard time jumping into the more serious topics once they've been thread jacked....then we've neglected to be a forum which addresses people's 'needs life support' problems...which was the entire goal in the first place.
Granted, many of us have been friends for a long time and have such a great rapport.....but I think we can still maintain the personal interaction along with keeping a few rules.

I will likely label the Public Forum as a spamforall. I want at least one, easily accessible, open area where all seriousness is left aside. If we adjust the whole forum so all topics are serious then the mood will turn heavy over night I bet.

Off topic would remain the title (spamforall) or something similar would be in brackets behind it.

I'm not wearing pants.
Nothing like exercising the right to spam in the Off Topic area :?
