Default New Posts issue

"New posts" does not always give all the newest posts?

It may be because some of the forums are hidden and as such, are not indexed in the sites search engine. I really don't want unregistered users to see anything in the Inner Me for example without registering with the site.

I'll look into this more closely and see what I can find.

Thanks for bringing it up Vautrin. Personally, I find it amazing how you notice all this stuff because it would have slipped right past me.

I think "New Posts" only lists threads that have not been completely read. Neither does it lists threads which have not been read completely, if you have made the final post in that thread.

I read threads all at once, and often choose to respond afterwards. That may be an hour later or so.

Have you noticed this as an issue previously or is it something that has only happened over the past few days?

Past few days only. Before it was working fine.

Same issue seems to apply to the User Control Panel (User CP).

If your referring to subscribed threads, there turned off by default so unless you actually turn them on in your User CP, you will not be subscribed to any threads automatically.

I'll have to monitor the New Post issue though but it may be as simple as a change made to the way the site stores cookies. The old system allowed a particular way of storing cookies that did not work with the url re-write software we now use.

I am definitely subscribed to the various threads. And the threads disappear if I either read all the pages of a thread or replied to a thread.

I see all the new posts under that link. They do go away now once I have clicked on one of them. They didn't do that a couple days ago, they just were unbolded and stayed until I left the site. That is okay with me. Once I have read the posts in a thread I don't need it to be visible in the New Posts area.

I assume the Adult Forum is for members only? I did post something in there and it doesn't show up in the New Posts area but Duke said that the New Posts area was visible by anyone who looks at the site. Is there a place where members can see all the new posts or do we just have to scan through all the forums to find them?

Kind of like the Top 20 Topics we had before?

It's likely they won't show up as subscribed threads if there already read as it now seems to monitor subscriptions based off forum visits. If you click on User CP/Subscribed Threads/List Subscriptions are they not all listed there?

All I know is that I'm subscribed to the same two threads I was subscribed to prior to the upgrade and I added this thread with no issue whatsoever.

It will not show up as a new thread if you were the last to post in it. New Posts only show up in the New Post area if they were added when you were offline, if you are online and posts are added you'll have to rely on the green new post icons.

As for the Top 20 Topics, the module based system we had previously is gone and gone forever. I may eventually code some blocks for the main site that resembled what we had previously but that is so far down the list right now it's not even worth mentioning.

You can always use the Quick Links Dropdown Menu and Select Today's Posts I hope to integrate this functionality into the main toolbar once the header is complete.
