That would be your problem.
Is that the complete name of the virus'?

Follow the paths and delete the files that are listed in your virus vault. If you need to go into the registry click start/run/regedit and follow the path listed in the virus vault. Be sure to delete only the file mentioned and not all files or you may screw up your computer.

The whole virus thing has gotten so bad on computers until sometimes it's almost just too aggravting to deal with it. I'm glad you got some help on here Meanon...most of these guys know WAY more than I do.

Which troubles? Jk
I've not had chance to do it yet. Minus nights out I now have 4 nights left to pack for moving house. Ridiculous timescales. I won't get a phone line in the new place for about a week. Can I do it while I'm offline or do I need the net connection?

You don't need to be online to do it.
If you don't have a lot of information stored on your hard drive, you may want to consider re-formatting your hard drive and re-installing your operating system. It will take less time and virtually guarantees fixing the problem.

About as likely as reformatting my brain and reinstalling an IT comprehension chip :?
No, I'll stick with finding and deleting the files. I should be able to follow the instructions for that. I wouldn't know where to start with the rebuild.

You'll be amazed at how easy the re-format and re-install is. It's really as simple as installing your Windows XP disk and following the instructions. It will automatically re-format your hard drive for you, wipe it clean, and re-install in about 30 - 45 minutes. Likely less time than it may take you to combat these virus'.

yes a computer bloke did that for me too (the windows). Hard to understand the level of my IT ignorance, I know but it's all relative! Compared to my friends, I'm a whizz. Is there an instruction manual?

Yes, there are instruction manuals with Microsoft products. The only downside is, that you pay a lot for these manuals.

Do me a favor, insert your Windows XP disk and just look at what the options are. There is likely to be a built in FAQ or readme on the disk (in fact, I'm sure there is). I'll take a look around here and see if I can find my disks and I'll let you know what to do.
Meanon, it's so simple you won't believe it. You just have to be patient because it does take some time to re-formatt your hard drive and re-install your Operating System if you have an older PC.
Also, make sure there's nothing on your computer that you want to keep because it will all be gone when you're back up and running. Save whatever you want to keep onto floppies, CDR's or DVDR's (assuming you have a CD Writer or DVD Writer).

Don't have an XP disc. The computer was a pressie. I have floppies (!). I don't know if it has a CD/DVD writer. I'll ask the person who gave it me. Thanks, Duke. If I have a manual I can do it no problem.
