Mission Statement
If you found your way here then welcome!
Lifesupporters.com will be a site dedicated to online support for anyone in any stage of life. Essentially, if you're 8 years old and having problems with a bully at school, if you're a teenager who's pregnant, or if you're an adult curious about how to communicate with your children, you will be able to post in our forums and hopefully obtain "real world" ideas about how to act. This is NOT a therapy site nor do we claim to have all the answers, quite contraire, we just offer an ear to listen and give you some ideas that you may not have considered.
Of course safety and anonymity are a big part of what will make this site work. I'm currently looking into ways to keep this site anonymous to multiple family members within the same household. The reason for this is that if there's no worry about having your identity kept secret to those closest to you, you will likely open up more and tell us what the real problems are. This is what we're interested in and what we need to know in order to offer ideas and insight.
I'm also currently looking into ways to police this site. You may find that the registration process gets extremely involved. I apologize for the inconvenience that this may cause, but I MUST know who's registering here. I may even ask for a scan of you're birth certificate so I can verify you're not a predator looking to link up with some poor unsuspecting child through my site. This site is not a vessel for any bull**** like that, which is why I'll need details.
I will also provide links to therapists, councilors, online policing communities and other important links that can offer professional advice. Essentially, this site will do whatever it can to help you through the trials of life. Feel free to browse and check back often for additional new features. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to e-mail me at sirapnek@shaw.ca
Sincerely
Ken (aka Duke)
Lifesupporters.com founder.

My birthcertificate is under lock and key and I threw away the key. Since that hasn't been implemented I figure those of us already members will be under some grandfather clause and not have to submit.

I feel the same way. Everyone will find out my real age when I die! Even then....I may pay someone in the family to change the death year on my tombstone!

Now you have us wondering, how we would be able to establish your age. Wooden teeth? Silver teeth. Typical marks of surgery. A tattoo with "assembled in xxxx, born in yyyy"?
We are curious now.

The only reason it was suggested was, at the time, I thought we'd have a lot of younger members and I didn't want any "sickos" praying on the youth of this site. It would literally kill me to know that some child here was taken advantage of by another member who slipped through the cracks of the registration process.
It hasn't been implimented yet but should we start attracting young members, I may change the entire process. The reason for the ID is that anyone in the world can be traced through a birth certificate. I'd have a better chance informing the authorities of what has transpired.
Also, any members under a certain age (yet to be determined) would have their private messages monitored and certain site permissions revoked all in the interests of their safety.
There was a tremendous amount of time and research put into the registration system prior to the site going online. If I had just pushed on and not considered these, and other, alternatives, we would have been online close to a year earlier.

Would I have to supply my Birth Certificate? When it was chiseled out on a rock many, many, many years ago, I think I may have thrown it out

Actually, I'm thinking a care card, drivers license or any other government issued proof of identification would be fine.

A driver's license still has your birthdate on it but in the interests of security I would be willing to submit as long as only a select few were privy to the contents. Gotta protect the image you know!
Seriously, I would do what ever you needed Duke.
