Default How can you tell.....

how many times an article was read if someone who was browsing linked to one thru Google or any other search engine? I always read them...but unless there is a comment.....how is it counted?

I was just wondering.

The database only counts a read once the topic has been opened. Linking to a topic wont count as multiple hits unless clicking on the link actually gets you into the topic.

Also, search spiders browse the site too to ensure they have up to date info in their search engines and those hits may also count toward views. Not entirely sure on that one though.

That's good. I just didn't want the contributers of the articles to think only a few people read them. I think that's where lots of our 'viewing count' comes from and I really appreciate their input with the articles....as I know you do.
