Default wireless issues

I bought a netgear wireless adapter because the router is netgear. i had a adapter for the old router but we have changed to a higher speed broadband and there for i needed a adapter more capable of the speeds i should be getting.

however im only getting 4-7mb instead of the 8-14mb connection i should have. signal strenght seems to be fine. im just wondering if there is anything i can do to try and boost the preformance of the router/wireless adapter to get the best speeds out of it?

also - the installation program that came with the adapter seems to have slowed/bugged my computer. since i installed it the computer seems to get moments where it goes incredibly slow, and even freezes for a few seconds. its getting incredibly annoying!

ive tried the obvious - uninstalling and reinstalling etc and it doesnt seem to have made a difference.

Man this really isn't my thing, even though I have wireless capability I'm still using hardline for both of my computers. The only thing I can suggest is check your online CP Settings (assuming your Router has an online Configuration Panel such as D-Link does) and see if there's a config issue there.

I guess the other question I have is are your Network Cards able to handle the higher bandwidth?

Lastly, I'd check your Windows Task Manager/Processes with the Router Installed/Un-Installed to see if there are any new running programs hogging up your RAM.

my connection seems to be doing a bit better today - however since the adapter has been installed its still causing my pc to slow and stutter.

I need more information here GG ..
Laptop? Desktop? What type of interface is the card (PC Card or PCI slot?)

What version of windows? If you are using XP... is XP handling the Wireless connection or is there software with the card that takes care of the connection?

Any other information about your computer might prove to be helpful as well. Complete system specifications

Also if you could tell me the exact model name of the card it would be useful.

Would be real cool if you knew what chipset was on your motherboard as well.

I have found some compatibility issues with netgear wireless adapters and some types of computers so basically I need some rather specific details.

I do not want to sound to forward or anything but this would actually be a ton easier if you could call me or even start a chat session. I am fairly certain that I can help with this problem

Toss me yur TS server details anytime, all I can say is I will try to be here Sunday night.

I have to admit that this coming Sunday is looking a little bleak though. I'll do what I can.
