Default New (old) hardware?

Bah can't sleep.......

I don't spose any has a socket 478 CPU laying around that they wouldn't mind parting ways with, has to be 400 or 533mhz FSB.

I can buy one for $20 so of course I don't mind paying for it.

Im also looking for a power supply (20pin with 4pin CPU power connector) as long as it's over 200w. Which I can also purchase for $20.

Anyhow lemme know =)

Default Re: New (old) hardware?

I'll have to take a look for PSU's but I'm pretty sure I don't have the CPU unless an Athlon K6'ish is socket 478.

Computer issues are a pain in the neck. I was going to go to bed over 2 hours ago until that is, I screwed up either my BIOS Update or Overclocking Utility and couldn't even bring Windows back up. Luckily there was a setting in my Asus Setup Utility where I could revert back to default settings (which I tripped over ) or I'd still be farting around trying to locate my Asus CD.

Default Re: New (old) hardware?

the first pentium4 cpus were socket 478
im not really lookin for more than perhaps a celeron 2.0ghz or so

and yes, computer issues are a pain, i put my back out bending over a case putting a new CD rom in it

looks like i'll be ordering the parts i need online heh

really its not to bad - $40 total to get another computer up and running - i just figured if some one had a few parts laying around they might make a few bucks for something that was gonna get trashed anyway
