Search the Web

Does anyone actually use the Search the Web function at the upper right of our forums? If not I'm considering making better use of that space because in all honesty, it's unsightly as h3ll.

I have been thinking of adding better search tools here in the process so I've been considering adding a larger search function under the Forum Quick Naviagation Bar (User CP, FAQ, Members List, Calendar, etc...) or possibly at the foot of all forum posts/topics.

Any thoughts on this?

I don't have any thoughts on what search tools you should pick but I have never used the search the web feature at the top.

You should remove it, Duke.

It's far too easy to just go to a search engine site yourself or use the one's most people have on their toolbars on their browsers.

Firefox has the search tool built into the top right corner and I use it ALL the time, If I was you I would remove it.

I kinda figured I'd get this reaction

I'm working on filling that area with an ajax newsflash similar to the one we use in the same area on the main page.

BTW now is a good time to add that if I do start working on adding this module, please expect all kinds of theme related issues in the short term. This is not a downloadable module that I can just enable within vBulletin, it's custom code that I have to add on my own to a custom header that's far from optimized or W3C Compliant.

For those of you who have never experienced how much a .css, .html hack I am, now is your opportunity.
