"School Zone" or "Back to School" area
As I was enjoying the marvelous breakfast cooked by my husband for Mother's Day ( actually my husband does 99.999% of the cooking, I'm so happy ) I was wondering how Mother's Day started....so I looked it up, read about it, and posted it....
So....I'm suggesting a "Back to School" or "School Zone" forum where we can post interesting facts about History or anything else that is informative...if we had such a forum, I would have posted this very interesting Mother's Day article there...

I thought the Mother's Day article was really interesting. I like knowing the history behind stuff. What does Duke think ?

I don't think Duke's seen it yet...I just came up with the bright idea yesterday what Oprah calls a lightbulb moment!

If you all believe this is a forum that would get used then I have no objections toward creating it. My own personal opinion is that it's more of a forum that will only get used now and again and we just don't have the real estate needed for another unused forum.
As it stands, we have the following unused and/or rarely used forum topics:
- Sleep: Polyphasic & Ubermensch sleep cycle vs. Monophasic
Topics: 10, Posts: 135
- Special Needs: Need your input on what to add here for description.
Topics: 11, Posts: 76
- Uplifting/Inspirational: A collection of content meant to cheer you up and/or inspires us all.
Topics: 19, Posts: 91
- Substance Abuse: Alcohol, Drugs, etc.
Topics: 26, Posts: 345
The Kids and Teenager Forum also takes up plenty of room and is never used.
Essentially, all of these forums are taking up space that could be better utilized for busier topics. If anyone has any ideas on what we can do to compress these forums, I'd be glad to add any new forums you desire.
Thanks,
Ken

IMO, I would keep the uplifting, inspirational one and since I read something just about every day, I will post on it more! School Zone would be good, I think, because with trying to look after more News that isn't only weird, but factual like the latest in Science or Techology or Computers, etc. and History as well, I think School Zone would at least be worth a try...I'd like to do more research on important days of the calendar and how they got started...I think it would work rather well...

i think the sleep, special needs and perhaps the alcohol abuse could all be combined with the health forum.
the school zone is a good idea but, i can't see it being used other then back to school; unless you combine that one with the teenagers and kids forum.
my 2 cents.

I agree with Star on all the suggestions. I think it would be great having a 'Learning Zone'...school zone is fine too but it might sound kiddie instead of being descriptive of the concept.
I think something to consider in all things is that we are all in the process of working on different websites in the hopes of building up the network community for the future. Time, or the LACK of it, needs to be a major factor in what we are sure we can commit to.
I hate leaving Luba to carry the posting load on a whole new forum since I know my time is more than limited lately....as well as Star...and Duke's free time is nonexistent. I feel bad enough that I rarely make it to IG and haven't done a real great job posting on here either. I used to spend 2-4 hours a day on here. Now I'm down to 30 minutes. I would be of minimum help in a new forum.

I will try to make this happen sometime this weekend, along with adding news to the main page, and answering all these PM's and posts I've been neglecting. Sorry folks, I've never at any time in my life been even half as busy as I've been over the past two months

Whew.....I've been so concerned that I must have hurt you in some way....I've sent the same PM to you about five or six times about your and Dwoing's Birthday...
I'm usually okay about not taking things personally...until I think that I have maybe hurt my wonderful Sons in some way...then I suffer-r-r!

You are such a sweet mom Luba. I don't care if my kids are pissed off at me or not...I figure they will get over it eventually.

Upon reading this statement, I have my mouth open wide in amazement and am unable to breathe...
