Default Life Support Teams

This is something I've been toying around with in my head for a while now. I haven't breathed much life into this idea at this time which is another reason why I'm requesting feedback.

Just a little background:

Putting a website online is pretty easy however, building it up is a very intensive and time consuming task. Since I'm my own worst enemy (a perfectionist), I tend to stall on projects and the site suffers in the process.

My Idea:

Create support teams here that have specific functions that all benefit the growth and development of lifesupporters.com for example:
  1. Wiki Team: Team dedicated to populating our wiki with content.
  2. Link Team: Team dedicated to adding our link and info (template) to online directories as well as engaging in reciprocal link campaigns.
  3. PR Team: Members who register at other sites online and try to educate people about this site and its benefits (driving in members).
I just want to state for the record that this is just an idea at this point in time and is by no means cemented. I wanted to post it here to get some feedback from you fine folks on the feasibility of programs such as these?

There also needs to be some type of reward system because I don't want Team Members to feel as if their work is not appreciated and/or going unnoticed.

I can't say what kind of rewards there would be but I wouldn't allow people to help out without some kind of acknowledgment for their efforts.

I can't pay money obviously and I can't market websites (unless they conform to family friendly guidelines) but I can likely give out e-mail addresses, and perhaps photo galleries and blogs (via vBulletin/Lifesupporters.com for example gamergal.lifesupporters.com).

I'm not good at accepting help in the first place so the last thing I want is to feel as if I'm using people. Even though I know this not to be the case, I don't want there to be any misconception. There's nothing worse that pouring your energies into something and have it go unnoticed as I'm sure most everyone can relate to.

well i understand i guess, and if you really most do something for a reward maybe we can come up with something, but honestly id be happier without something then with, mainly because i love to help, and when given the chance is the best reward i could get

so when you work out what you need to and get it going just find me and i'll do what i can!

I like the idea too. If you make it a reality I would like to be on the Wiki team. I can research the internet with the best of 'em. As far as the rewards, a nice note every now and again stating you recognize the efforts would be plenty.

Prerequisites:
  • lifesupporters.com e-mail address (sorry but this has to be used for all team members). I believe using @lifesupporters.com will definitely help give the impression not only of professionalism but unified teamwork.
  • quotas: this will be extremely lenient but there will be minimums required for all tiers. This is the only way I can see there being a clear understanding between myself and all Team Members.
  • Team Leader: Merit based position off proven performance.
Perks I've decided on: (W.I.P.)
  • team page (in Wiki w/ forum link).
  • team ranks.
  • individual team member pages (for all your relevant info).
  • staff level access to administrative areas within forums.
Perks in the works (proposed): (I'm a poet and dontknowit)
  • Gallery
  • Blog
  • Webspace

I don't have a problem with any of the things you mentioned. Did wonder what kind of quotas you are talking about however!

Easy quotas such as 3 wiki topics/month, 3 perspective link exchanges/month, etc. Nothing heavy but there has to be some level of mutual understanding in order for the teams to function properly.

Sounds good. I would probably opt for the wiki team. Don't know if I can actually contribute that much as long as I am in South Africa, as I only can get home internet at the moment to run. I can't even get it to run where I am volunteering, as there is a weird network issue :S.

The professional emailadresses is a splendid idea.

And sorry to be a proverbial pain in the ass, but which version (UK,US, CDN, SA) are we going to work with?

You're never a pain Vautrin, in fact I rely on you plenty to snap me from tunnel vision mode.

The e-mail addresses for all team members would all be username@lifesupporters.com for example, duke@lifesupporters.com
