Catch Phrase Help

Just out of curiosity, does anyone else find the forum banners load rather slowly on every page refresh?

I'm thinking about rezzing them down somewhat to compress the filesize which should make them load a bit faster, assuming it's a noticeable issue to you folks.

Not the page load, the actual banner load itself.

Usually the banner is there at the same time. Depends on my connection but I haven't really noticed a problem.

This is actually what I'm noticing and that the banner loads from the top of the image down. True it's delayed by a second or less but I find it to be annoying personally.

I'm gonna fix it dammit.

on your first post you have the first 3 banners...

my Idea - combine all three (or something)

show from left to right

baby in belly - slight older child and mom (or mom, dad child image) - then a teenage mom, dad, child image

or mix it up so you aren't sending the wrong visual message

like a baby in belly image - a small child and dad image - then a teenage child and mom image

same caption though "It's never to late........."

I'm fairly good and image editing and the sort - if ya need a hand just ask.

Interesting idea, thanks for the feedback.

I guess I'd have to see how it works because ultimately I want to have as many individual messages in the banner area as possible. I admit that I've sloughed off lately, because I need more raw images to add to the header rotation.

I like the idea of having one message/banner instead of how I had the banner on the old site; a fade from one image to the next over a 600 pixel wide banner. All the banner did was confuse people and I was criticized more than once for having a pleasant looking website that had no clear message.

I'll see if I can dig up the old banner or perhaps a screenshot of how the old site looked for comparison sake.

What I'm looking for here is simplicity as much as possible. I really want to stay away from fades and fancy image transitions as much as possible because it really doesn't help this site much. If I can have clean looking images with thought provoking catch phrases that differ on each page refresh, then I'd be a happy camper indeed. I think it would also help make people realize that lifesupporters.com is not focused one small social aspect but many.

Of course, if you do have a spare moment to mock something up quickly I'd certainly love to see it. I'd like to make sure I have a clear understanding of what your idea is so I don't remain in "tunnel vision" mode.

As for eye candy, I do think gamemoviemaking.com could certainly use some help in the aesthetic department as well as more traffic. If you or anyone here knows people looking for a new gaming community, please send them to gmm. GMM is no longer just focused on gaming movies as I've decided to also turn it into a gaming website. Retiring as admin from Wolfgaming has left me without a gaming community I can call home so I've decided to build a new home instead.

I am totally with you on simplistic, as far as mocking up an image or 2, I can work it prolly tomorrow night or somethin. I've wasted alot of time tonight playing CNC Generals heh. I didn't want to make anything real complicated, I kinda like the idea of showing children of different ages, with or without mom/dad, just kind of adds a lil depth to the meaning (it's never to late)

Of course, for some people, there is a "way to late" can't wait till yur kids are 30 to show them you love them....

Anyhow i'll step away from philisophical debate and ill work on somethin here soon...

rofl, no pressure d00d really. I'll likely perform another image search here within the next few weeks and have additional blank banners looking for catch phrase feedback. Making the banners isn't what takes the time for me, it's finding usable pix.

So you're a gamer huh, what else you into?

I'm a bit of a simmer myself so my favorite games tend to be less run 'n gun and as realistic as I can possibly make them.

• IL 2 FB and fly with the 332 (which can be seen in my signature).
• Armed Assault
• LOMAC (Lock on Modern Air Combat): don't really play this much but it's installed in anticipation for Black Shark which is rumored to come out this year.
