Default just an idea..

im posting this by persuasion of duke coz im a little shy

i was thinking there is all these forums to do with different issues, but what about a forum for things we have overcome, achieved and conquered? problems we have managed to solve and things we're proud of? just some good things to show that even though we all have problems we also have the things that keep us going.

I think its a great idea and I'd love to give it a try.

Anyone have any other ideas on where exactly this should go within the forum index and if there's other things we can add to this idea to make for a busy forum category?

What a WONDERFUL idea! How about under the "Inner Me" Category as a sub-topic?

I like the idea of putting it there but if it does go there, it will be hidden to people until such time as they register with the site. Of course this is perfectly fine by me, just throwing it out there.

I like the Inner Me idea but if we make it a subtopic there then it will be buried and possibly not get as much exposure. Maybe call it "Overcoming Life's Trials" or something similar and leave it under the General Category where Inner Me is located. Just a suggestion.

The problem is that if it’s a subforum of the "Inner Me", it’s hidden by default and becomes a bit cumbersome to allow public accessibility.

GG, do you have any input as to whether or not this should be a hidden forum or a publicly accessible forum? I'm guessing that if the issues are somewhat personal in nature, no one would want google spidering and indexing the posts.

althought it'll be acheivements and such posted, people may of had to go down a long road to get their and some of those things may be quite personal to just have completely out in the open.

I think in the "General Issues Forum" would work well, its not adult only and not teenage/kid only, so it wouldnt make sense to put it many other places i guess.

Just so I don't get too off topic I'll state for the record, I'm a real forum layout Nazi and I'm sure there's been at least a few people here who've been frustrated by it (myself included). I absolutely HATE scrolling, especially within a forum index and I'm not a big fan of the cluttered and confusing look sites get with overloaded forum categories.

Since we have vB, we now have the ability to use sub forums but abusing sub forums is also a pet peeve so we need to strike a healthy balance. As it is now, I'm looking to compress the current forum category layout by at least 1/4 or more within the near future so a new main forum is something I'm not interested in much unless its something that can accommodate a minimum of 2 or 3, sub forums.

I would suggest though that since your topic deals with the positives, why not create it as a sub forum under "Uplifting/Inspirational"?

I think we're definately on the same page with that as well. I love subforum functionality but hate to see it abused. I'm hoping to take advantage of subforum functionality here with many of the less used main topics becoming subforums but not in such a way to confuse the browsing experience.
