World Series
I watched most of the game last night and my team LOST! Of course, as usual, I have a bet out there again. I hope it goes the entire 7 games just to make it more exciting and get the bet "upped" up if the games are tied during the Series.

Ardent Detroit supporter, or can't stand the Cardinals?
At least we get summaries of the World Series. Games even take longer than chess, so there is in general less interest in baseball than in chess.

Actually, one of us had to pick which team we'd stand for, it's really only about the money on the bet! Makes cheering for a chosen team all that more fun!

But what if you lose?!?
Betting with your co-workers? If there will be a seventh game, you should probably get to a venue for it.
My gf actually went to football-bars during the world cup. Cheering for England (a lot of her friends + family is English), cheering for the Netherlands. She seemed to have enjoyed herself quite a bit. Although it would have gotten quite awkward, if both teams would have played each other. Luckily, we have Portugal to thank for that not happening.

Losing is okay because we don't bet Big Money...it's just for fun and a constant ribbing of each other if the other team is losing...I won on the Super Bowl so I'm still ahead...usually we sort of break even, it's really the fun and gibes that make it!!

Re:
I find watching baseball is as much fun as watching paint dry. Actually, watching paint is funner because at least you get a cheap buzz off the fumes.

I am waiting until an Englishman launches http://www.invite_a_hooligan_for_ano...yourhome.co.uk
Of course, with pictures of the ravage, broken beer bottles, hurt police officers, and a picture of the final score...

Rain postpones Game Four according to Internet News I looked up this morning. More rain predicted. Right now I'm on the losing end...but I have faith good things will happen for the Tigers! (taken from the Football topic)

Cards get upper hand as Tigers beat selves
By PAUL HAGEN
hagenp@phillynews.com
ST. LOUIS - When the snow falls in Michigan this winter and the harsh wind blows off the Detroit River and the skies are barren and gray, this is the sequence of events that could haunt Tigers fans:
Nine outs away from evening the 102nd World Series and assuring a return trip to Comerica Park.
Tiny Cardinals shortstop David Eckstein lifts a fly ball over the head of centerfielder Curtis Granderson, who seems to have it lined up... and then slips and falls as the ball lands untouched.
The next batter, pinch-hitter So Taguchi, tried to give the Tigers an out. He drops a sacrifice bunt in front of the plate. Reliever Fernando Rodney picks up the ball... and shot-puts it over the head of first baseman Sean Casey.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OH, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, I'm glad I didn't see the game...I'm sure I would have CRIED!!!

I guess I am kind of with Duke on this one. I enjoy going to the games in person once in a while but I could do without it on tv. Sorry Luba. I know you are a sports fan.
