Default Soo...

I don't know if I ever mentioned Shelly to you guys on here. I believe I did. Anyways, she was going to move across the country from New Brunswick in a couple weeks just to be with me. So, obviously I care about her and all that.

Here's the thing, that just got put on hold for I don't know how long. Not a big deal, what happened is that her parents just told her they were getting a divorce and she is just devestated right now. I don't know what to tell her, she just keeps asking how she can fix it and just feels like her world is crashing around her.

I really don't know what to tell her. I've told her that they will still be her parents regardless of this and that they will always love her and that it's not her fault. Aside from that, I am at a loss. I had to hang up a few minutes ago because I have a big day tomorrow and have to be on the road for 5am so I am going to bed now, but if you guys have any advice, I'd love to hear it.

Tell her to come stay with me.

You know, parents seperating is not always a bad thing. I know for a fact that I was miserable with my daughters mom and had we stayed together, it would have had a negative impact on our childs well being.

Even though divorce sux, sometimes it really is the healthiest option.

You're right Duke, I just wish there was a way to convey it to kids. Fact is, a "very close friend" of mine just hates being married, has nothing in common with his wife except the kids, and is more often than not more than simply disgusted with her, but revolted.

But there's the kids. He has 3. He loves them and they are far from being self-sufficient so he feels the strong parental urge to grin and bear it. What he is finding, though, interestingly enough, is that there are erosive and corrosive forces acting upon this urge and that his resolve to maintain the agony of his marriage is weakening by the day.

If his kids would, or could, express any opinion to support divorce, WHAT A RELIEF that would be!!!!

So my advise to your friend, Weiser, is to be supportive of the inevitable. It will no doubt be painful for her, but she will (hopefully) never know what a great measure of relief she'll bring to her parents with the gift of understanding.
