I understand your analogy perfectly (although I have never played chess, but on my cell phone and that ain't chess I guess).

It's very accurate. I was so much looking at it from my pov, trying so hard that I was losing the bigger scene.

Meanon, I don't know if it has to do with hope. IT's got a lot to do with will. I was hoping and hoping and trying and to tell you the truth... I got tired. I guess one can only hope so much. Bummer !!! So yeah, the moment the hope is gone, everything else is dead. I do love him, but I just can't hope or wait for him to change.

I want to smile again, I want to feel happy again, I'm tired of constantly crying - I was reading a thread on loveshack where they were asking how often did people cry... my answer was every evening Sunday with a bonus or two during the week, for the last 5 weeks... Duke is right, I do desirve better.

Could be checkers, Twinkle.

In chess you have 6 different kinds of pieces, all with different move patterns.

A very difficult game, and quite popular in Communist Europe. Stalin had made the game very political, after Botvinnik became the first Russian player to win the World Championship Title in 1948.

My best friend's brother is a check Master. Top 3 checkers in Romania. He's also studying physics. Got a scholarship in research at Ann Harbour. So he's there right now.

I love the game. Too bad I didn't get into it when I was younger. Right now it's too late to catch up, plus you have to practice practice practice if you wanna be any good at it.

Or have a natural talent for the game .

I learnt it at the age of 7, and never practiced. I am no master at the game, but I managed to hold a Grand Master to a draw less than a month ago, in a 20-minute (per person) game.

It's a beautiful game, which sadly does drive a few people insane.

As Twinkle said, once person has to decide they don't want to play anymore....regardless of who is winning or losing. Sometimes....you just get tired of the drama.

Yes Meanon....I'm as peacful as a bug in a rug....unless I would be foolish enough to let a great big foot squash me![img]

Sorry to make this thread about my chess-analogy. In a friendly game there is no time limit. All the time for love between the moves . It can last a lifetime.

When someone is not interested in playing anymore, as Twinkle is now, she will give up her positions, and pieces, before formally resigning.

Also, moving back and forward is possible, without the game advancing one single iota: the relationship has become stale, but still remains in existence.

But in Twinkle her heart, she knows the relationship cannot be restored anymore. The game is out of balance, and it can't be restored anymore.
She just waits for her partner to return to the board again, so she can finish it. And she will walk away from the board, the stale air, and leave the room, and the building where she played. She goes outside, to see the sun, to feel the wind, and be free.

Merika, I am interested to see how you would pull the relationship analogy with hockey, or football.

Vautrin, I guarantee you that my ex could have done that in a second!! HE was a passionate of football and quite smart, I might add!

I don't like the game in it at all. However, football does tend to stirr up the greatest emotions... A very appreciated French singer died a month ago. Well, a couple of weeks ago, before the game began, all the stadium went up and started thinging on of his big song - a kind of an hymn to them... very touching. I think that at foot games one feels much more patriotic than usual. It's the tribal call, maybe, the supreme confrotation!!

No, I really meant American Football and Ice Hockey. Over here field hockey is more popular than Ice hockey.

What games do you like Twinkle? Just curious.

In America it is. In Europe it is not. I do know a bit about all these sports though.

I wonder how Merika would have fitted in a fumble, a sack, a touchdown, et cetera.
