Default Why are you religious?

I'm not but I'm curious why some of you are.

I hope this isn't another ignorant, idiotic post by me. I am truly curious.

I wasn't raised religious, My parents took me to Church when I was a small child untill the age of about 10 and I have discovered my own spirtuality in the past 5 years.

Why-

My life is better and more complete as a christian, there have been times when I wanted nothing to do with religion and I was a complete disaster.

I have comfort in knowing/ believing that one day I'll see my loved one's in heaven.

I believe that the "rules" 10 comandments we're created to give people structure. and I think it is important for my child to learn to live by them.

I also had an extreamly horrible situation with my son's health and I prayed and prayed to a god I didn't believe in at the time to save my son... The doctors basically told me to make funeral arangements and for some freak reason beyond medical belief he is still here.... so if there is a god up there I'll worship him day and night because he spared my childs life.

Wow, very compelling reason Stoneheather.

Not that anyone needs one. I guess for me, I feel like a stranger outside of the church looking in and observing through a window.

Do you go to church? I had to find several before I really loved one.. The one I go to is geared for young people ( under 50) we all wear jeans and tenisshoes to church, we sing christian rock and roll for the sermins, and our pastor rides a harley and has a tattoo.. some people think it's crazy because it's not a traditional setting, but it's a very accepting and non judgemental church.... It ROCKS

Even if I die and find out there really was no god in the 1st place, that's o.k. spirituality makes me feel better and makes me a better person. So nothing was lost or wasted.

I rarely go to church at all.

When I was a kid, my mom would have to bribe me with lifesavers candy in order to get me to go

I don't think of myself as 'religious'....but I suppose it's as good of a word as any to use to describe someone who follows a certain faith.

With that being said.....I'm religious because if I didn't have Jesus in my life.....I would be the loneliest person in the whole wide world.

I myself am not very religious at all but i do have a faith im saved and i pray to god i dont go to church at all.

But i think that certian people choose to be religious. Im not talking about preachers...or evangelists im talking about people in General...of all religions....People are religious because when it comes down to it having that Being to look up to and praise to, that being who will be there for you to talk to, the ONLY Being in the entire world who knows what you are feeling and understands why. Sometimes that is the OMLY thing they have left to believe in, they have no life or their family has disowned them or their only child has died in an accident, if they have a religion to follow the guidelines of and that Being to give their time to then they still have that one last reason to live for.....

My family isn't religious, wasn't raised religious.. so i'm not religious

I don't feel there's 'something' missing in my life, and I don't have the urge to become religious.. so i'm happy about it.

Well put Wapwap!!

That's why, unless asked, I never mention my own personal feelings on the subject when meeting someone. I think if everyone would just respect everyone else's choices, whatever they may be, the whole world would be a sunnier happier place!!

It will kinda sound out of place after the Captain Obvious picture but I'll add my $0.2

Basically I'm not religious and I don't go to church but I do have a relationship with God which is just between Him and I, from which I gain strength.

Why? Well because I've seen to much evidence of Him (in the world, in peoples lives) and of His power to not believe.

Captain Obvious was only saying each person should be free to chose their own path.

Merika just wanted to play Imaging Queen for something to do.

:jumpclap:
