Offering
I TRY to attend church every sunday and when I do attend I ALWAYS give 10% or More but now I am not working due to the birth of my daughter and I literally have no income except what Greg gives me here and there.
So how much should I give in offering? Today I only gave $5.00 I felt kind of bad the church usually gets much more than that from me. But last week I gave them a total of $140.00 ( including VBS donations and donations for babysitting Noah)
I don't know why but I feel really crappy about just putting 5 bucks today it is really bothering me :? Mostly because I know I can' t give much more than that from now on

I don't attend church o Monday and I never give money to the church. 8O
You're crazy, Heather, you have two kids to raise, giving money to the church shouldn't be on your priority list.
If every person going to church would give 5 bucks, they'd be millionaires. The thing is... most people don't.
It's only between you and your conscience, there is no moral duty in giving money to anyone.

Stone, you are giving what you can, which is more than a lot of people do! I think God is looking in your heart, and that's all that matters, IMO.

On a serious note, what do you think of precisely when you pass a Church? Just curious....

I have looked at the church in my home-village for 18 years. I lived next to it; I even said occasionally "hello" to the dead.

I don't go to church and when I do on ocassion (for the kids school stuff), I don't give any money. the catholic religion is rich enough. I'd rather give to places like salvation army or somehting like that.

I never give money. When I was at home, my mother would always worry thet I don't eat well, so occasionally she'd send me food.
Other than the fact that I'd tell her not to, that she's not quite the world greatest cook, she'd be sending me enough food to feed an army, bless her heart.
I remember that I'd either make sandwiched with the steak she'd be sending and giving it to the poor - you know, people sleeping on benches, old people begging for money, or I'd be throwing it away .
then I met my ex, and he'd always have lots of hungry, poor, student friends, more than willing to pass at my house for a hot supper - I swear, my mother was literarily sending food for 5 people at least .
I guess she was still feeling guilty for not being there for me, cooking and cleaning everything I touch, LOL.

To me....if you are part of a church.....you should take some responsibility towards the upkeep of the building and paying the staff. However, I really don't think it's a requirement of God that you do the 10% thing. He says 'Where your treasure is....therein lies your heart"..and that's the most important thing.....is just not to be stingy and uncaring for other people.
For some people their treasure is the money and STUFF they have.....that's a sad place to be in.

I think you are right, if I was a member of a certain ministery, I'd want to get involved too.
But I'm not. So there.

I believe you should give 10%, although I don't, but it's a good practice if you're a regular member of an assembly as it helps in numerous good ways. To me, it's important to attend somewhere that you know your money is put to good use, my dad was on the church commitee and they broke down where every cent went so I never had concerns regarding that.
