Modern Day Religious Persecution
After hearing all about the whole "Holiday Tree" v/s "Christmas Tree" thing that's going on here in the USA I've decided it's just a form of religious persecution. It really is. I mean, come on, how many other religions do you know of that celebrate with pine tree? That's right, only Christians. You don't hear anyone calling the Jewish menorah a "Holiday Candlestick" do you?
For some reason Christians are allowed to be Christians as long as they don't speak of it in public or tell anyone about it. You can study every religion and culture in school as a child, except Christianity. We no longer have Christmas break...it's winter break. Kids can't have Christmas parties at school anymore because it might offend someone. It's a national holiday. Nobody is asking them to baptise them, just let them sing "We wish you a merry Christmas" and exchange gifts and partake of the general Christmas spirit. You don't have to celebrate the religious aspect of it, many non believers celebrate Christmas as a secular holiday.
I'm telling you, it's modern day religous persecution.

Um, another question is, if you feel Christians are so persecuted why Muslims have to go to schools on Fridays and such. And why the schoolweek does not start on Sundays for Jews.
Why is Jewish Easter not a national holiday? Or at least that the people who want to raise their children in the Jewish / Mulsim / Hindu / Pagan / whatnot faith get the appropriate days off in order to attend to the religious celebrations.
What persecution? It is not about the spirit of Christmas anymore - and if it is, that only applies to a tiny fraction of self-proclaimed Christians. The day is just as religious as Valentine's Day.
If the US is based on Christianity there is no issue. It does not matter what the tree is called, as long as it fulfills its religious function. Or the menorah, or a minaret, a church. Or perhaps people need to actually study the writings of their respective religions a bit, before demanding things that are considered totally irrelevant from the perspective of their own religion.

Waa waa waa. This offends me, that offends me. I'm a little bitch and I want this country to conform to me so I won't be offended. But I'm not really offended, I'm just use to getting things my way so I am going to bitch some more because it is my right.
Seriously, this PC bs is enough. You come to MY country and you want US to change to suit YOUR needs? I don't think so. Suck it up or get the **** out.

I celebrate Christmas...........but because it isn't celebrated by
everyone..............we can no longer say Merry Christmas.
Now it has to be Season's Greetings.
It's not Christmas vacation, it's Winter Break. Isn't it amazing how this
winter break ALWAYS occurs over the Christmas holiday?
We've gone so far the other way, bent over backwards to not offend anyone,
that I am now being offended. But it seems that no one has a problem with that.
This says it all!
This is an editorial written by an Toronto newspaper. He did quite a job; didn't he? Read on, please!
IMMIGRANTS,
NOT Canadians
MUST ADAPT.
I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we
are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist
attacks on Sept. 11,we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority
of Canadians. However...... the dust from the attacks had
barely settled when the "politically correct! " crowd began complaining about
the possibility that our patriotism was offending others.
I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is
seeking a better life by coming to Canada
Our population is almost entirely made up of descendants of immigrants.
However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to
our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand.
This idea of Canada being a multicultural community
has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity.
As Canadians.......
we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle.
This culture has been developed over centuries of struggles, trials, and victories
by millions of men and women who have sought freedom.
We speak ENGLISH/FRENCH, not Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese,
Japanese, Russian, or any other language.
Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language!
"We Stand On Guard For Thee" is our national motto. This is not some
Christian, right wing, political slogan.. We adopted this motto because
Christian men and women.......on Christian principles.............
founded this nation..... and this is clearly documented.
It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools.
If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world
as your new home.........because God is part of our culture.
We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really
don't care how you did things where you came from.
This is OUR COUNTRY, our land, and our lifestyle.
But once you are done complaining....... whining...... and griping.......
about our flag.......our pledge...... our national motto.......or our
way of life....I highly encourage you to take advantage of one other Great Canadian Freedom......
THE RIGHT TO LEAVE.
It is Time for Canada to Speak up
If you agree -- pass this along;
if you don't agree -- delete it!
Merry Christmas
I figure if we all keep passing this to our friends
(and enemies) it will also, sooner or later
get back to the complainers, lets all try, please

I can see this country imploding in on itself in the distant future if this keeps up. There are just so many different cultures here where we don't see eye to eye with one another. There are a lot of conflicting beliefs between so many cultures.
I would love to go to a Tim Hortons and order a coffee in my language and have the employee understand what I'm saying. Where I used to work it was just unbearable. It's like that everywhere. Immigrants come over and never bother to learn the english language. They barely get by on broken english and it just fusturates me when I can't get what I ask for because that person doesn't understand me. I don't understand French, but if they spoke it fluently, I wouldn't be so pissed because they had taken the time to learn one of the two official languages.
Another thing that pisses me off is these damn Pakistan Mounties who wear turbans. It's not part of the uniform of our national police force. It's another way of them making us change our customs to fit their needs and make them feel more like they're back in India. I've got news for you, this is Candada damn it!! If you want to feel like your living in your home country, then go back. We should not have to change our customs just to suit someone else's custom.
I want my Canada back.

Funny over here the practice is: if it is Muslim, it is bad, and should be persecuted. However, if the same behavior is displayed by Christians, of which Muslims are accused (such as the banning of women in political functions by the SGP, a small Christian party), noone cares to notice. Or even worse: that is religious freedom. Something about which most parties are apt to say that it does not apply (to the same views of) Muslims.

DA I couldn't have said it better.
I don't care if you're Muslim, Jewish or if you worship Buddah. If you're in our country, and want to be a citizen of this country then learn it's ways. You don't have to celebrate Christmas along with the rest of us if you don't want. That's your FREEDOM as an American. Just stop trying to spoil our fun as well.

I bet if all the 'Christians' in all countries took ONE YEAR OFF from playing the Christmas game and didn't shop at all....this crap would stop.
To be honest....it would be a relief just to celebrate it quietly within your own home and family and keep it from costing hundreds of dollars.
It's not like Jesus was actually born in December anyway. Let's just do something quiet and meaningful in September.
