Default Christening, Dedication Baptisim

How important do you think it is to get your children Dedicated or whatever your religion calles it to god?

I don't thik it is a big deal especially if children don't sin, I didn't christen or bless my son I feel when he is old enough to make that decision he can.

What do you/ your religion believe?

I'm not a practicing catholic but I did get my kids baptized when they were little babies. Krystal was 3 months and Kassandra was 1 month. I don't know why i'm waiting so long to get Erika done, maybe laziness but I do have to get her done very soon.

The reason I get them done is because I wanted them (and want erika) to go to Catholic school. It's not the religion too much that I care about, it's the fact they they do learn about God there and the catholic schools are much stricter then the public ones are. I've had Kassandra in both (she went to public school for 1/2 year last year) and she hated it as did i. The quality of teachers is so much better.

There they're do their first communions, confessions and confirmations. Kassandra will be doing her confirmation next year. I leave the high school decision up to them. They can choose if they want to continue in catholic or go to public. kassandra's choosing to go to catholic high school whci I am very happy about. Their moral standards are a lot higher then the public high schools are so that's awesome!

I've never pushed religion on my kids regardless of them having to go to catholic school. They're free to believe what they want to believe and take what they want and leave what they want. The most important thing for me is that at least they are learning about God.

Erika will follow. She will go to catholic school. Man! I have to get off my behind and get that child baptized!

I'm not sure what religion you are, would you mind saying?

How you can say that children don't sin, the Bible even says:

And, for me, and even more striking passage is Ephesians 2:2 where it says:

I believe in baptism, but not infant baptism.
I don't believe baptizing a baby ensures them any chance of salvation.

EXACTUALLY I don't follow any organized religion, I grew up Southern Baptist then my parents switched to Evangellical now I still attend a church regulary BUT it is non denomiational, Adults get baptised there all the time witch I would like to do eventually when I am ready I just don't see why I should baptise my Infant, I was under the impression that children we're pure, though I could very well be wrong.

I never looked at it as an alternate way to get saved. That is a decision each person can make for themselves as they get older. I always considered it a type of dedicating the baby to the Lord as a promise to raise the child up knowing about Him. I don't know if I consider it any sort of necessity....but it's a nice thing to do.

I'm sure that this is different in the Catholic Church. To some people, it's VERY important depending on their particular faith. Speak to your Pastor and see what he has to say about it.
