Default Your childs best traits

I love my daughter more than life itself. I think I've posted it here and there close to a gazillion times. Although I love everything about her, some of the traits I admire the most are:

- great sense of humor
- honesty
- caring
- her laugh and smile
- warmth
- integrity

What are some of your childs best traits?

I don't have children, yet I find myself thinking more and more about this. I was always the one avoiding any type of relationship that might hold me down in any way...

I know I sound like a stupid, ignorant person, but I've never ever thought about how it would be if...How s/he would be like. At this precise moment, I really envy you all. I don't even have a dog here. Not even a plant!

Don't give it a second thought Twinkle. When you are ready...the time will come.

Keep in mind this is the thread on our kid's GOOD traits....the rest of the threads are full of all the problems which come with the little Darlins!

Enjoy your life....you can have kids way down the road! LOL!

Merika, I'm a bit ruthless when it comes to my life. On one hand I complain and cry that I don't have something of my own, but on the other hand .... here in France, I really don't have anything of my own.

It sucks, but I'm considerig having a child two years from now. Just being realistical, not even pratical.

I'm also scared to death of crying children . I'm appaled, women here let their kids cry and fuss, it's incredible. I bump into them everywhere, the buss, the street, stores... the horror!!! They have tones of children here, it simply jumps to your eyes!!

When they are YOUR kids Twinkle....the crying and fussing doesn't bother you as much. They don't do it ALL the time....but they do it enough to where it's not that big of a deal. You can't always control their moods.

Duke....I do think kids behave better for their Dads than they do for the Moms. I'm not sure why. Maybe because their Moms are with them more and don't seem as 'special'...LOL!

Also, when mine were 9....they were easier to handle. Closer to preteen and teen though....they can develop their own ideas almost over night. There are still fun times and close times.....but you do feel it when they begin growing into an adult separating themselves from their parents and finding their own identities.

The reason is so simple that I can't understand why people can't grasp it. Simply put, men take no **** from kids, period. Women will be pushed to the end of their limits, and beyond, and kids exploit that.

This is a generalization of course, but a pretty accurate one IMO.

You are ABSOLUTELY correct Duke!

I wonder if it's some instinctive thing kids have. They know Daddy is the big play pal.....but you don't disrespect him....ever. Whereas, Mom is sometimes more like a comfortable shoe.

I think women have a much closer bond with the children as they cared for them in-utero. I actually think it's more of an instinct for women rather than any discernable character trait.

Of course I'm no professional so I'll continue to take my blind, uneducated guesses until I say something right.

Are you saying it may be more of an instinct for Moms (females) to put up with crap from their kids due to the Mommy-Bond? That actually makes a lot of sense. When my kids were babies, and perhaps even now, I tend to make excuses for their negative behavior...

Thats exactly what I'm saying but cannot back it up with any real data. I can't imagine what it's like for a woman to nurture life for 9 months and then rip it's head off every time theres spilled milk. As a whole, dads are pretty stupid when it comes to understanding that bond between mother and child. We also get pissed off easy when anyone messes with our stuff.

I know if I say something negative about my kids...that's one thing. But if anyone else does it....I'm PISSED! Maybe Moms don't see things as onjectively as Dads do.
