Default Tracking Badges for Teens

I'm not sure how I feel about this. Actually, it sounds like an interesting concept. I would think since it can easily be removed....it would defeat the purpose.

Students ordered to wear tracking tags
Parents protest school mandate on RFID badges

SUTTER, Calif. - The only grade school in this rural town is requiring students to wear radio frequency identification badges that can track their every move. Some parents are outraged, fearing it will rob their children of privacy.

The badges introduced at Brittan Elementary School on Jan. 18 rely on the same radio frequency and scanner technology that companies use to track livestock and product inventory.

While similar devices are being tested at several schools in Japan so parents can know when their children arrive and leave, Brittan appears to be the first U.S. school district to embrace such a monitoring system.

I think the best part about these would be knowing that your child got to and from school. It would come in real handy if they got abducted; they'd be able to be tracked down to where they ended up. Is that the reason they decided to have students wear these?

I actually wish it was law for us all to have a small chip embedded under our skin (where we can't dig it out) at time of birth. That way there will be no doubt as to whether or not you're actually guilty of whatever your charged with because the chip will know where you are at all times.

The local airport just installed the same system for tracking luggage...I wonder how far it'll track and if it'll work at other airports when they come on line.
I wonder if parents will be able to track their kids...even though they can't listen to their phone conversations.

Do you know the name of that luggage tracking device? Sounds like a good stock to invest in

type in "luggage tacking" on a google search. The process is called RFID and that will work in google as well. The searchs will result in a lot of hits.

After working for an airline....I'll admit the biggest problem they face is the whole luggage scenario. It's just hard keeping up with the bulk of it. I think it's a GREAT idea to be able to track your own luggage. People who travel a lot should definatly invest in it.

As far as teens....I could see it very beneficial for the school....only if it wasn't easily removed.

Could open a can of worms though. Now women will be wanting to put them on their husbands. HAHA!
