Default Teenage Drivers

I don't know about everyone else....but I know quite a few teens who I find it to be REAL SCARY that they are old enough to drive. Not to mention the insurance cost.

(I pay $650 a year for vehicle insurance.....the next time I renew, since I have a 15 year old, that cost goes up to $3000!)

I came up with a plan that if the government would issue NEON colored cars for teens which had those steel grids built in...it could bring that insurance price down. Statistically, 80% of all teens have some sort of wreck within the first two years of driving.

Now, if they all had these NEON cars, which let you know who they were on the road, the cops and adults could look out for them. AND....if ALL the kids had them....then there would be no 'ugly' sitgma. They are simply beginner cars for kids with extra safety features and that NEON color.

I came up with this while drinking beer.....but to this day....I think it's a great idea!

My gf just got her beginners license and did her first driving test with the instructor today, she was so excited and told me she thought she did very well. With all the agressive drivers on the road, I'm a bit concerned with her being on the road driving but I'm excited for her at the same time. I've had my license for 8 years but don't have a vehicle because it's just to expensive and the insurance is retarded, when she moves here next summer we might get a car but I'm happy to just take the bus for now. I admit to driving a bit fast myself but I've always been a safe driver and have never been in an accident with another vehicle, I hope when the time comes I can pass some good habits on to her.

I've been driving for 20 years now and am a pretty safe driver now. When I was young I was a madman.

Give it time Paul, statistics show you will be in an accident at some point. I've been in 2 but none have been my fault to any degree. When you get in the big city, trapped in with all those impatient yahoos, it's just a matter of time before it happens to you.

perhaps but after 8 years honestly I don't think it will be because of my own actions, not to be cocky or anything, I'm just very well aware of the vehicle, it's dimensions and capabilities, as well as my own. Knowledge is power!

Now don't get me wrong, I have been in accidents, lots of them including a roll over, driving off the road 3 times, rear-ended, rear-ending, etc. but I was never the one behind the wheel.

All I was saying is not all accidents can be avoided. My first was where a teenaged girl actually wanted to get into my lane but didn't shoulder check and turned right into my car. I saw it coming but had nowhere to go because she literally automanned into my lane. I couldn't dodge as it was a one way and the sidewalk was crammed with pedestrians.

Stoneheather....I'm sure your car is much more COOLER than the vehicle design I had in mind.

Mine was more like this in a glow in the dark color:

Isis would look CUTE in a neon pink tank. She just hasn't warmed up to the idea yet!

It's also the perfect vehicle for those snowy Saskatoon evenings.

Too heavy for the snow, you'll want a snowmobile or a snowcat.
