Default Teaching your son respect for women

From the front page: clicky

Hey dad, ever walk in when your son was mouthing off to mom? Ever catch him snatching something out of gramma's hand or beating on his sister with no regard for their feelings? It may not be as simple as a "stage" your son is going through.

In an article posted on Focus on your child.com, there are 12 rules you can teach your son about girls and women. Many of the rules are obvious such as:
- speak well of women.
- never hit a girl or woman.
- walk on the outside of the sidewalk.
- open doors for women.

It's a good article for anyone with a son.

Having read some of their material in the past, I've discovered that Focus on the Family is a great Christian ministry. Agree with his beliefs or not, Dr. Dobson is known for his good, relevant advice. Good article!

Ya I post a lot of their articles here because it is a pretty good site. Much of what they post on their site is good advice for any family.

It's a good article for anyone with a son.

This is very hard to pull off once the sibling rivalry begins between a boy and his sister. She started as the aggressor when she was the oldest and biggest. Once he gained ground it started as him defending himself and providing a little 'pay back'.

After that....it just got REAL ugly! I'm not suggesting they fight and bicker all the time. They actually spend quite a bit of social time together and have joint friends.

When they DO fight though....it's articles like this which make me really wonder if I should step in or let it go. If my son ever treated a date or a wife like that....he'll surely be in jail.

I don't know since I don't have a son to go with my daughter. I would say that if I did and she was picking on the boy I'd punish her equally as if it was the other way around. I don't believe gender should play a roll when handing out punishment.
