Default Odd Names

Have you ever met someone with a REALLY odd name and you wondered what their parents were thinking?

I used to date a guy who's name was: Parks A. Long....seriously....he was a Sr Chief in the Navy.

Someone sent me this link which is even worse:

Her name is Maxie Pad. 8O

I come from a bilingual country, were some of the more traditional names in Frisian are plainly absurd in Dutch. On rare occasions you do meet a person with such a bizarre name. Sometimes with a sexual undercurrent too.

I don't know much about pads, but is it a possibility that her name has acquired this meaning after she was born?

That may very well be true Vautrin. Much like my son asked me a couple of weeks ago why anyone would name their kid 'Dick'...and I told him that only in the last 15 years did it have any sexual reference. I think we were discussing the Spotted Dick pudding in the UK...which was the favorite pudding of King Richard.

there's a law in France preventing you from giving certain names to your child. Some time ago, a woman that had given birth to her child on the high way, wanted to name her baby "Highway"

In the Netherlands similar laws exist. You can't name your child "Jezus." "Adolf" might also be banned. And of course insane names are banned too.
