Best learning materials for kids
What is your idea for the best learning materials for kids at home? Books, movies, or children's bible stories? Can you give some of the title

This is a pretty subjective question. A lot depends on your children. I think good books are the best. My daughter read a lot of books, mostly fantasy, and she does wonderful in school and her reading ability is very good. My son rarely reads and it shows. He is good in school but his verbal skills on tests suck. If you can read and you read a lot you will do better. It works your brain, your imagination, your creativity. I don't think it matters too much what you read, just read. Verbal comprehension will ultimately increase and if you can understand you can learn. Just my humble opinion.

I would vote book and certain types of video-games. Running a corporation, building an empire (strategy games), or role-playing games. All these games can teach kids quite a few skills you they won't get taught in school.

I agree with the game idea too but you really need to get the right game. I am bad when it comes to picking out games.

They can be if they have the right software loaded.

Books!
I think a conversation at the dinner table every night on any topic of interest such as history, geography, News, etc. and each explore some interesting information on the subject is important. I wish I had started this idea with my boys; we would have all learned something and enjoyed learning together. I'll never forget watching one of my most beloved speakers, Leo Buscaglia, said about his Dad. At the dinner table every night his Dad would ask him "so what did you learn today, Felice?" I thought that was so wonderful, and as I said, I wish I had done that with my boys!

Thanks, Vautrin!
In my next life, that's EXACTLY what I'm going to do! I'm going to pray that I get the same husband and the same kids but grow up a LOT faster than I did this time....or did I? ...and I'm going to start laughing the minute I'm born.

And what makes you so sure you get back as a woman, Luba?

Children's Bible Stories
Well, the internet is always a good source of information if you want to find some great stuff for children. But it is always good to personally read books with them specially during bedtime.

Re: Children's Bible Stories
Welcome to Lifesupporters labmice!
I agree that the internet is a fantastic resource but it's always good to loosely monitor what you child looks for online because it's easy to stumble onto the wrong site.
As for reading to my child, this is something I didn't really do. Don't get me wrong, I read to her a bit but I never made a habit out of it and I'm glad because she made a habit of reading to herself. She's now 11 and reads more books in a week than I do in a year.
