I think he is, too!
Thanks.

He is, which makes his mental illness that much more.....disappointing, I suppose, and difficult to manage (at first). I guess its just unexpected or something, or, because he is easy to indulge, many of his earlier transgressions might have been over-looked.

Well, I suppose you'll all be happy to know that I had a nice cry today. I've held up ok, but couldn't hold it any longer.

Andrew knew I was meeting today to see the Psychiatrist that had tested Andrew and had analysed the results. Nothing terribly astonishing, except that all of his affictions are associated with a specific area of the brain: Frontal Lobes. The Dr. has recommended seeing a Nurologist because 1. There is no Family History of Chronic Massive Psychotic Depression, and 2. Andrew's Mental Illness came on suddenly.

None of this, however, made me crack.

It was the phone call from him: "Dad, do you know what's wrong with me?....can I come home soon.....?"

I explained what a Nurologist was, and that I would continue to do everything I could to get him home as soon as possible, and that I LOVED HIM VERY VERY MUCH.....

Neurologists are scary. Frontal lobes, eh? Several possibilities causing his illness there, babe.

Yes, I'm glad you had a nice cry. It's good for your soul and it will prepare you for more fighting it sounds like you're going to have to do.

I will pray that it's none of the things I read about and Andrew can live a normal life with you.

I KNEW at least a couple of people would say this. I'm just not a big crier.

So, I woke up today, had coffee, and resolved to go get Andrew and spend the day with him an compliment him each and every opportunity I had. Took him to lunch at an Indian restaurant, he and his brother went to the pond and caught minnows in a little net as I watched from the window with binoculars (SO WONDERFUL WATCHING HIM DO SOMETHING NORMAL), then I bought him a bunch of new clothes because I'd returned all the Skull-Covered Crap he'd gotten out of the "Donation Box" to the hospital staff. He spent the rest of the afternoon playing with his sister in the pool before we picked up dinner which he helped make, and then dutifully did the dishes.

I'm gonna repeat this tomorrow, except begin earlier, and watch fireworks with my son, Andrew.

I take it the Risperdal is helping some?

Sounds like a wonderful day you all had. Happy 4th.

In a sense, as terrible as it may sound, I do hope that the Neurologist can provide the answer to what happened to Andrew. If this is what happened to Andrew, then it is through no fault of his or anyone.

I agree with Luba's sentiment. It is wonderful that you can appreciate these "little" things with Andrew now, Scott.

Thanks, this is about what I like to concentrate. TODAY. Some, including Andrew, like to peer months and years into the future which they either see as half full (Andrew) or half empty (mom). I try to encourage them both to just see tomorrow.

Thanks. I believe the Risperdal/therapy/time combination is working, but since Andrew really doesn't seem to feel any differently with 3 mg Risperdal, we're going to 4 mg.
