The continuing discussion about this article (thanks Alkali for posting it) about the baby which was taken from it's mother's womb is in another thread started by Stoneheather (again, thanks). I should have split it last night....but didn't.

PLEASE NOTE THE ABOVE.

As far as Scott Peterson...with the lack of anything but circumstantial evidence.....I think the man was convicted to death for having an affair while his wife was pregnant. I think he DID it....but I don't think the forensic evidence was there to prove it.

I support the death penalty....but I would not have voted for it in this case because there just wasn't sufficient material evidence.

Okay...so what do you propose we do with them? Chain them together and put them to work in the rock quarry? Or rent them out for cheap labor to factories..thus putting good honest men out of work? Honestly...I'm curious...whomever it was that posted this please give me some of your suggestions.

punishement by death has been around for a very long time.
So has prostitution, why is that illegal?
Prostitution is illegal because the government hasn't found a foolproof method to tax the bejesus out of them...IMO....

I got an idea, don't watch the news. I don't, I'm stupid and uneducated but I'm obliviously happy about it.
I'm gonna have to second that. If it's not on the AOL welcome page...I don't know about it....

As far as the death penalty...I totally agree with it. I think Texas has the right idea by putting in an "express lane". 3 or more hideous crimes (or something like that) and you get moved to the front of the line! I fully support the death penalty for violent crimes. Murder, rape, child molestations....all of those found guilty should be executed in whatever means they choose. But they shouldn't have 30+ years to wait on it to happen. I say the sooner the better.

I've been watching the news a whole lot less lately due to almost getting burned out pre-election. There IS a lot of garbage going around and it fan boggle your mind.

However, if we don't keep up at all..... then we are not in the position to support changes. Even what you pay for a can of soup all leads back to politics.

I have friends who are deeply involved in politics and even run for offices..... they are the reason I can relaxe. They make it their business to dig and expose and try to change those areas which are wrong. I admire them....even if I don't always have the same stamina.

Lots of replies- I didn't read them all

1- I don't believe in the death penalty PERIOD

2- I REALLY don't believe in it for Peterson b/c (I may be wrong) but there did not seem to be much physical evidence in the case- he was convicted on means and motive- that's not conclusive enough for me to say someone should die.

"Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them, Frodo? Do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. Even the very wise cannot see all ends."

I've always supported the death penalty in theory....but I couldn't actually pull the plug....which I guess makes me a bit of a hypocrite.

In the Peterson case.....I couldn't and wouldn't even voted for the death penalty for the same reason Faybelle. I never saw any substantial physical evidence.....meaning by some fluke....he may still be innocent.

However, I doubt he will ever get the actual death penalty. People sit on death row for decades. I think they only put 2 to death in the past few years....especially in California.

he will get it, he is too young to die before he gets it even if it takes 20 years.

I think he'll win on appeal. Like Merika- I could never have convicted him on the evidence that was provided. A lot of evidence for the defense that was suppressed for the 1st trial may be allowed in the appeal. If the 1st degree guilty verdict is overturned- he'll escape the death penalty.
