We are so close to the election until it's become too sensitive of an issue between people. I think most folks are tired of all the arguements. Hopefuly, we'll end up with a political thread which offers solutions and discussions...rather than people just getting all puffed up.

I'll take a stab at something I read this week which I thought was very interesting. I don't know if anyone wants to comment on it.

There were 39 combat related killings in Iraq during the month of January.....
In the fair city of Detroit there were 35 murders in the month of January.
That's in just one American city, and it's about as deadly as the entire war torn country of Iraq .

Unless I read it wrong, I don't think the quote is comparing apples to apples. It says "combat related killings" but the actual number of deaths due to anything but "natural causes" may be substantially more.
